I bought a resin kit of a WW2 truck, but the tyres are totally naff, had replacements but they still are pretty grim.So it looks like a scratchbuild ahead for these items.Does anyone have a method for making a tyre, this will then be a master for resin casting.TIA...Dave.

you could try to purchase extra tires from a kit manufacturer that makes the ones you like.
if i were to try to build a master, i'd go with balsa or bass wood. buy a block, find the center point, chuck-it to a drill and sand away. finish detailing by hand...start the moulding process.
or find a kit with the tires you like, use one for the master and mould from that.
trial and error

oh yeah, tell the resin kit maker you bought from that his tires are [email protected] he'll make a change

If you don't have a lathe, I advice you stay away from tires. You'' be much cheaper off finding another model with correct size tires than messing around to make your own.
What model do you need tires for ? Maybe someone can send you one of his own, so you can copy them... ?

Hi all, thanks for the info. The kit I bought was an Elite models Krupp LD 6,5 N 342 LKW, and I got replacements for it,but as I originally said, they are still naff. The nearest tyres I could find at present, due to me not having a vast assortment of wheeled vehicles, are the tyres from the Italeri Puma, but they are too wide, and the pattern is wrong.Ah well, suppose I'd better nip down to the model shop for the balsa and dig out my whittling knife!
Dave.
