Envar already has another Excerpt ready. This one deals with creating your own shell casings out of brass tubing.

Envar's Shiny Casings

Thanks Toni!

As usual if you have comments or feedback leave it here.

hehe,

I know one RMG participant who can't wait for that pea pattern

and as for me ..... hmmm I'm already planning a second RMG dio, just in case I keep on schedule with the first one..... those curtains will come in handy for that second dio, I'm sure !!

Very nice little articles, but silly....no not at all. I think that these sort of little, cheap and easy solutions are what we are looking for these days..... With the economy going down over here, a lot of us are just not waiting to spend all of the money to PE and other goodies....scratchbuilding has a real future people !!!

As for me.... I just love those little how-to's !! Please keep it up.

Those "silly" things are the exact opposite os filly envar. Scratchbuilding and modelling use of everyday cheap or free materials is useful enjoyable and above all moneysaving in a hobby that the more you build the more you need to spend. By the way the epoxy putty that we make sandbags..how much does it cost in your area and comes in what package ? Cause the one i can get costs about 5.30 $ and is about 9cm long tube and 2 cm diameter. So i thing i pay too much for the sandbags i make with this quantity. If you can clarify .. thanks

Goose,

Milliput costs about 8 euros here (the standard pack, about 12cm long).
Two-component epoxy putties are even more expensive (Araldit, Plastic Padding). Iīm not sure which brand you mean.
However, I think it would be possible to make sandbags of DAS pronto or similar. It would cost 3,50 euros/kg! You would just have to make them carefully, smooth the surface with water, let dry for fifteen minutes and then gently press a pattern on it with rough sand paper.

I havenīt tried this myself, but thatīs the way I would go if I needed lots of bags.
Hmm...
This could be added to the Envarīs Excerpts after I try it out and if the results are satisfying...

hmm, I am wondering, isn't the back end of the casing supposed to be closed? or is it too small to be noticed? otherwise, very clever!
