Well! It's 10 Pm and Colliseum has just finished....wow! A superb piece of television. BBC at it's best and only about 50 times better than that crappy movie Gladiator with that Antipodean, amateur Russell Crow in.

I'm not comparing it to Gladiator Wally. I'm promoting a drama/documentary I thought was particularly excellent whilst at the same time denigrating a movie I thought was particularly bad. I don't think anybody needs it pointing out that a movie is not the same as a drama/documentary.

Steady on guys.
Well, apart from the 90% statistic, could you spot the difference between Colosseum and Gladiator?
No, neither could I.
I was quite disappointed really. Just my opinion

You couldn't tell the difference? Surely not! They're different genres..........apparently. One is about Roman gladiators, whilst the other one is about er......Roman gladiators. No, hang on that can't be right. Let me try again, one is about the Romans, right? And has lots of gladiators in the Colliseum fighting each other, and the other is about the Romans and has lots of glad.....look! It just is another genre apparently ok? We've been told. We have it on the highest authority.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable post...sorry I missed the doc/drama/ thingy I've only got BBC world service which does not broadcast documentaries only a highly-subjective view of world news. I don't pay a licence fee either. So if you gentlemen would like to get back in the pit, we'd all like to see a bit more blood on the sand......

I can't actually remember an underground museum in Wales......but it sounds about right for Wales. They've probably converted it into a Welsh Language Preservation Facility. You know......a bit like a pub? Everybody speaking English until somebody English appears when everybody starts speaking Welsh as if it's the most natural thing in the World?

Let me try and summarize this thread:
"Gladiator" was a movie about a mathematician who frequently was forced by government agents to fight soviet spies in an arena...
"Gladiator" was a dramadoc about a sinister broadcasting company who threw civil servants to the lions....
A clear difference between the two..... #:-)
