Hey guys,
Wasn't Glenn Miller shot down over the channel by friendly fire? Hubby said that he read somewhere that the Brits thought his plane was a German bomber. After they shot the plane down as realized they made a boo boo, they covered it up. Is that true? At least to your best knowledge. I didn't get to watch the program on the History Channel.

There are a lot of different versions out there apparently. I like this one as it sounds most plausible and truthful:

He may have been "in the mood" prior to this event, but he sure wasn't in the modd for what was to come. This sounds like a major, and typical WW2 Snafu, airforce style!

There's a very good showing on The History Channel tonight (May 19) about this very story:

@ 1800hrs
Deadmen's Secrets
Whatever Happened to Glenn Miller?
Bandleader Glenn Miller joined the flood of young Americans enlisting in the army in 1942 and was ordered to form a new 42-piece all-star band to entertain service personnel. With the liberation of Paris in 1944, a series of Miller concerts was planned. But when Captain Miller took off on a short hop across the English Channel to Paris on December 15, he was never seen again. No wreckage was found and no official explanation given. Did his aircraft simply fail, or was there a military cover-up? TV G

Just thought you'ld like to know.

Thanks Ken,
I'll try and get up to my in-laws to see it this time.
