Hi there :-)

Firstly let me thank everyone for their encouragement in getting A-UK moving! :-)

I've begun to set up a structure similar to the Forums on the Main Site. My reasoning is "if it's good enough for the Big-A ... I shouldn't go too far wrong by copying it!"

In case anyone wonders why I've changed some Forum titles... there seems to be a character limit... but I'll check further. :-)

It's an weird feeling, creating a bunch of Forums... with no idea whether anyone else can see them! (I tell you... it's easy to take what goes on behind the scenes at Armorama for granted... until YOU'RE the one facing a blank computer screen! Jim... my respect for all you guys has gone into orbit... and is reaching "escape velocity"! :-))

I'm delighted A-UK members have already started using the new Forums... before I could even explain what I was up to! :-) While it's great to see Aircraft Talk getting some traffic, I need you Armour guys to start posting... a Wolf just doesn't feel comfortable unless he's out-numbered...! :-)

I've got a bunch of new ideas... but I won't discuss them here! You'll have to stay tuned to Armorama UK to check them out! :-)

Thanks again

Rowan

Question: what are the main differences between New Armorama U.K. and old Armorama U.K. ? I was in this evening and I didn't notice any differences at all... Jim

Joe,
Are they junk mails or forum post alert type mailings?

If they are junk mails then perhaps we should re-examine the whole MSN thing because that is PLAIN ALARMING!

Hi Jim

Well, if 10 new forums didn't show up on your browser... I KNOW last night was a waste of time! :-)

If you really can't see any change, pm me... because other folk are already using the system. :-)

Don't expect earth-shattering changes overnight... A-UK has basically stagnated since it's creation... and we're ALL responsible for that

I didn't ask for the task of getting things moving, but I'm going to give it my best shot. :-)

I've still got to learn what the MSN forum can (and can't!) do... there's no point creating an identical clone of the Main Page - but I've tried to put in place a structure we're familiar with.

Believe me when I say I want to create a unique identity for A-UK, and I've several things up my sleeve that you won't find on the Main Site... :-)

All the best

Rowan

Congratulations on the work you have done so far Merlin. I think you are on the right line as far as wanting to make A-UK have its own unique features rather than simply being a baby clone of this site.

jim,
sorry to alarm you! they arent junk ,mails, they are the forum related ones.
i just didnt expect so many, and as i used my hotmail email address when i signed up im worried because it only gives you limited space.
did i do something wrong when i joined, and if so how can i sort it out.
i want to get the updates but not so many, is it possible to limit them to my intrest groups,
armour,dioramas etc
thanks

Hi Great brit if you go to the members tools area click on "check your e-mail settings" and see what you are set on. If you click on the daily digest you should only get one e-mail a day. Hope this helps

Sorry Joe,

I missed this while worrying about whether the new forums were actually "on-line".

Your situation sounds appalling! ... I get weekly e-mail updates on both sites... which is quite enough... . It's sounds like Peter's got this sussed, but I'll check things out and get back to you if I find anything different...

All the best
