Hi all

I apologise if this is trying to teach anybody "how to suck eggs", but I re-learned a basic lesson in digital photography today. Always check your white-balance... don't rely on "auto"!

These pics were taken at the same time of day on consecutive days. The difference is, in Pic.2 I did a manual white balance...

As a video editor, I'm ashamed to admit I trusted the camera to "sort it all out"... say no more...

:-) Can certainly see the difference. I've not used the white balance feature on my camera, I'll have to look into it, thanks for the heads up, Rowan

Wow, Rowan, that's some difference. Speaking of "eggs," it looks like the plane in the first pic is ready for Easter.

Hi Part-timer

Gerhard Hubrich, who flew this Albatros was nicknamed "Küken" (chick), so he used a chick hatching from its egg as his personal emblem. :-)

All the best

I think my camera is a little too basic - I don't know how to adjust or manually set the white balance. HP photosmart 320 2.1 MP - the tech sheet has a listing for White Balance - Daylight, overcast, sunset, tungsten, florescent. There is nothing however in the setup menu on the camera that lists white balance.

I know my Nikon FM 35mm better than the back of my hand- but I am a newbie when it comes to digital cameras.
