In addition to our full contest in the spring, my club does a minicontest at a local air museum in November which also has a non-competitive display that include works in progress, demostrations, etc. This last weekend, several members were set up at a major air show to promote the hobby and the club. We've also had temporary and permanent displays in various museums and libraries. My old club used to do a rotating display at the local airport. It's uncommon, in my experience, to have a single person setting up a display as you are doing.

I usually participate with local groups in public displays and workshops twice a year - it's fun.

I do a lot of display. I am a Civil War reenactor and at some of my local events/ or talks at schools i have four small 4 foot by 4 foot dioramas i use to explain differnet uniforms/equipment/armament. They really help. I currently have two dioramas (last i remember) displayed in two museums.

These are fun. I've been involved in many model displays and demos in malls and at veterans' events for several years. You never know who you may meet or speak with. It's really fun to have some WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War armor and figures on display and have the vets come up and start reminiscing. If you're up for it, you may even pick up some commission work.

The biggest display I was ever involved with is the model display at the Fur Rendezvous in Anchorage, Alaska. It spanned two weekends and all the days in between. We set the display up in a square around a couple tables for building and went crazy. People came back day after day to check our progress. One year, they put the modelers next to the home-brewers ... yow, what a fun week that was.
