Ok, it looks like I'll be lurking arond here, so I might as well say hi. I'm 35, work as a firefighter and am married with a 3 year old son. I've been building models since probably age 7 or 8, mostly aircraft at first. Picked up the hobby from my dad and built pretty consistantly until about 8th grade. Slowed down during high school and pretty much dropped building except for a brief period during the Gulf War (Abrams and Bradley), picked up some 1/72 armor and paints again in 1998 but then had to much going on to really keep at it. I just started up again in 1/35 and this site came up over over on Tanknet, the campaigns look fun and I think I will be spending a lot more time and money on models than I have in a long time.

Welcome to the site, welcome back to the hobby, and thanks for being a firefighter.

I got back into the hobby not too long ago, too, and made the same transition from being primarily an aircraft builder in my youth to armor. Now I'm doing both, and I love having one of each going at the same time. (Not that I can get done with any of them in a reasonable amount of time, mind you).

Hope you enjoy the site as much as I do!

Truer words were never spoke. Welcome to the very BEST modeling site on the web. As Plasticbattle says we always like seeing wingy guys convert to the real thing. Now if you also plan on builing "The Good Guy", i.e. ALLIED equipment, we'll have one more person out there trying to beat back the panzers.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm already looking at campaigns and the models I'd like to build for each, or thinking I wish there was a campaign covering whatchamacallit because I'd like to build such and such. Armor is easier to display, aircraft with landing gear has balance and spindly support problems, and flying aircraft needs ceiling permission. I expect I'll keep building flying machines as well though (the helicopter and wings over the water are calling my name). I like German stuff but I'm also a big Sherman and Cromwell fan, so I guess I'm closer to being a war profiteer helping out both sides (++) :-)

Howdy Aaron,

Allow me to join all my fellow 'Armoramarites' (try to say that 3 times!) in a hearty "Welcome!" to the absolutly BEST modeling site out there! Why is it the best? Because of the personal attention you get everytime you visit.....kinda like a 'posh' hotel.

As Part-Timer said, "..thanks for being a firefighter." I have two in the family and one more 'on the way'. My brother-in-law is a Captain in Nutley, N.J., my wife was an EMT/Firefighter in Dacono, Co., and my middle daughter is in school studying to prepare for the Fire Dept. So you already have my personal admiration.

Look forward to seeing you around...

Regards,

Tread.
