Hello everyone:

I´m bulding a Tamiya F 84G (1/48) and I´m planning to use Model Master Buffing Metalizers to paint it. My question is :
Is it posible to apply the decals directly over the metalic paint or I have to give a coat of Future or Varnish before like with normal paints ?

I've had no problems going directly over the metalizer but, BUFF IT OUT FIRST, and use Decal setting solution.

What decal setting solution did you use ? Can it be the Metalizer sealing ?

I use either Micro Set or Model Master Decal Set. If you are going to use the "Sealer" apply it before you apply the decals. In the past I've applied the decals and painted detail right on the unsealed surface, then applied a clear coat of Model master Lacquer OverCoat .

CSCH,
I always seal my MM metalizers w/ a topcoat of Floquil glosscoat or future. That way the metalizers are protected from any further scratches or ill affects of the next stage your doing, ie: decals. Once you apply the decals, (I use solvaset) let them dry for 3-4 hrs,
Then shoot another topcoat gloss, and do your weathering. Then flat or gloss..whichever,
finish you want to represent. Hope this helps. Todd

Hi there csch :-)

Try to trim as much of the decal carrier film off as possible, because it tends to show up more on a n/m finish than standard paintwork.

All the best
