Hi all, a query to our illustrious leaders. I have just gone back to update the Roll Call post in my Twin Boom Capaign thread, and noticed that I can no longer edit any of my posts apart from the most recent. Is this a glitch or a new policy ??

Cheers, D

Hi Damian

Accordingf to Staff_Jim there a time limit set to 3600 seconds (1 hr) due to the behaviour of one of the members.

All the best

There must be some flaw in the edit system then because one member was able to go into his posts (albeit all in one thread) and edit away all his comments from early March up to a couple days ago (numerous postings)?

That was the flaw I fixed yesterday. Further updates may be coming...

It's really unfortunate that the actions of the "few" can take away from the good intentions of the "many". This means that my Roll Call post at the start of the Campaign thread can no longer be updated as a "Running Report" on the specs and status of each member of the Campaign.

I am sure that due to the needed change if you send your updates to a willing editor of the site it will be sorted for you.

Thanks Darren, but it's an awfully big post and the alterations needed to keep the Campaign members in alphabetical order are fiddly. I don't want to burden the editors with such matters when there are much more important issues to be dealt with (i.e. "the FEW" I referred to earlier).

I have discovered that I can keep a running list of the Campaign entries in an Excel spreadsheet which can be alphabetised easily, then copy and paste the list into a forum post, so the "Roll Call" post will just have to be repeated at intervals throughout the Campaign.

Cheers, D

Now you can no longer go back and update prices or sold/traded items in Buy, Sell, Trade posts either. I think the "Edit" function has more utility and should be restored. If one user want to act like a child and go back to rewrite all his posts, so be it. He's the one who will look bad and everyone involved will know it. Why penalise the rest of us from one idiots actions?

I say restore it.

Well keep in mind at this point even staffers can't update posts (only moderators) so it's across the board. I will try to add something for either topic creators or everyone to edit on a more long-term basis but it will probably mean changing the way the forum stores future 'revisions' of text so that there is a clear progression of revised text to what had been posted prior.

You guys do realize that most forums don't even offer this feature right?

Yes, but you spoiled us

If it is possible (I have no idea how difficult it would be) to have the topic starters able to edit their first post, that would be great. This way the Campaigns, BST, and those threads that I do would be taken care of

Another option would be to deactivate the account of the member causing the issue. I know if you delete their account all their posts go south, or suspend the account such as happened to Gary. After all the member who I believe caused this action to be taken has said he will not be back, so a 2 year suspension is not going to bother him.

I am able to access old posts on the P-47 site in an editing capacity but not my own anymore.
Part of ongoing WIP I'm sure but just wanted to bring this to your attention Jim.
