Hi
We're off to Chicago for a couple of days.
Any good hobby shops (we're staying near O'Hare) or military stuff to check out?
Thanks
Andy

If you have a chance head downtown and check out the UBoat at the Museum of Science and Industry. I know I was amazed. Freaking things were tiny inside. I remember there being an okay hobby shop in Rosemont (which is close to O'hara) but that was a while back.

Well, they’re not real close to O’Hare, but not that far either, if you have transport. Their on-line pages (for info) are:
Venture Hobbies in Wheeling
Al’s Hobbies in Elmhurst
If you can only make one, Venture is the better of the two, IMHO.

Hi Andy, I live and work in the chicagoland area and totally agree with mj about Venture Hobbies in Wheeling . It has everything resin, PE,decals and row after row of armor and aircraft from all over the world. The U-boat at the museum is worth the trip too.

Andy, you absolutely must go to Cantigny, the home of the First Infantry Division Museum. There are tanks all over the grounds and the interior museum is just fabulous with life sized recreations of all the major wars the 1st was engaged in.

BobTravis beat me to the punch! You must check it out and bring your camera!! The other great thing is that you can check out the war musem and the wife and check out the rose gardens and the mansion on the grounds. If I'm not mistaken the person who started the Chicago Tribune used to live there. Let us know if you go. Scott

Al's is quite near the airport... a nicer than average selection of resin figures and plastic, but nothing overwhelming... siill, the staff is friendly, the selection is good, and there are always good sales going on for closeout items...
