Phantom Major has been "locked out" of the site.

He's requested and used new passwords but has had no luck (just error messages).

At the moment, he's operating under the name "Klink".

Any help would be great!!

Cheers

Porky,
Speaking as a General... "Don't panic!"

I have sent Jim a new password and am very sorry he has had so much trouble with the password generator. I can honestly say that the cookie issues and the password issues are a great concern to me. I will be making a Site Talk forum post about these items.

Suffice to say I know the "forgot password" function is a little funky...but it does work a majority of the time. There was a time not long ago (a couple of months) where it didn't work for me and I have no clue why. So yes sometimes it fails completely. In these cases just contact me and I will issue you a new password. Generally within 48hrs.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim

Thanks for getting back so quickly... Phantom was getting worried...

The "Forgot Password?" has worked fine for me. Basically my memory is cr*p and I don't write stuff down - or I forget where I wrote it... OUCH sorry!!!

No, seriously, the temporary password has bailed me out several times, so I don't know what's gone wrong for Phantom...

All the best

This issue was due to a user who had a corrupted cookie. You get a very specific error message when this happens. Your situation sounds more like a server outage or an ISP issue. I assume you were having no trouble accessing other sites when you got the timeouts?

Are you getting an error message? If so what?

Thanks,
Jim

Hmm....well your problem seems to be isolated to your ISP or computer, so that may mean you have some cookie or cached file issue that is causing the problem. Did you delete your cache files and try removing your Armorama (or all) cookie(s)?

When you say you have deleted all cookies, do you mean all Armorama.com cookies or every cookie in your temporary internet file directory? If you don't delete all cookies then chances are there is one hiding in there that is hard to spot. For instance you can have a www.armorama.com cookie as well as just an armorama.com cookie if you have visited both these domains.

Who is this anyhoo. What is your callsign?

Doh! Well as you can see I had no problem logging in with it. Just wanted to make sure the password took.

I am not sure what the issue is then. Since I can login with it, that means it's something to do with either your Internet connection or your local files (cache, cookie, etc).

Blocked?? You don't want to block them. That will definately cause login errors.

You aren't "logged-in" as Anonymous. That is simply the user that all non-logged-in posts to this forum get associated with.

I wish I could think of something else to try. When PantomMajor had this problem we changed his username and that seemed to fix it for him. Of course that means there WAS a cookie on his machine that was tied to the old username.

Want to try that?

Sorry that didn't work. Try this; go to these URLs. If you are logged in on any of these screens. Hit the LOGOUT link on the menubar and then go to www.armorama.com and login normally as Easy_Co (with the second password I sent you).

Jim,I tried those three URLS couldnt find a logout so i tried to log in on the numerical url, it worked, got the at ease screen then it went blank and in small print at the bottom of the screen it said Privacy Report, just that nothing else, then it went to the home screen, its a bit twitchy and slow but at least its working. :-) regarding the cookies i went to internet options privacy typed in www.armorama.com and hit the allow button is this right. many thanks for your help on this as you can guess Im a dinosaur when it comes to these things if your ever in london I owe you a pint. p.s. when i click to change forum and such It locks up for about 30 seconds then responds. I logged out and tried to log on again no dice, so I went to the second url on your list, logged on no problem.

Well I am glad you are back in some fashion. It's definately a cookie issue of some kind with the results you are getting. You may want to check to see if your browser is set to "HIGH" as the security level. This site will only work with it set to medium (the default level) because of the need to process cookies.

Cheers,
Jim
