Yep,that is the title.

Well I needed a pair of shoes so I saw an add at Kohl's for shoes on sale marked down from $54.00 to $29.00.
This place is where I usually buy them anyway.

Okay well never did get the $29.00 ones did not have my size left.

So I paid $20.00 more for a pair but the thing was that I was shopping for cheap shoes less then I would pay for a Sherman kit.

Question is how many would buy cheap shoes but would not bat an eye dropping $100.00 on add-on's for a Sherman kit and not even think twice about it.?
I hope I am not the only one here.

Am I nuts or what.

Obviously i'm a tart!!

I'll happily spend 75 quid on a pair of shoes, and thats a lot of modelling tokens.

I walk a fair amount, so quality shoes, be it work shoes, runners or other, are important to me so I don't mind paying a bit extra. I spent a couple of hundred on a pair of Adidas runners a few weeks ago. I tend not to buy things unless I really need them, modelling or otherwise.

I can live with cheap models a lot better than I can with cheap shoes. The models wont hurt my feet..... .....Al

I don't care about the brand name, but I do care about good quality. I will pay for good shoes not just to save my feet but my back as well. I bought a cheap pair of lounge shoes, and I can't wear them because it hurts too much.

Any where from 75 to 100 buck for a good pair of work boots. Dont wear anything else as I was in the truck six days a week. Now anything else just feels weird.

Since I am young at heart and skateboard (or am I just immature?!) I buy "last year's" models of skate shoes at considerable discount, like $30-40. I won't spend more than that because anything over $50 is frankly a rip-off. Just like I won't pay $90 for a model kit that is worth maybe $60. I am not in the "must have it now" crowd who would be happy to pay the inflated retail margin. The $100 DC shoes I saw last year are now $30 at the discount part of the same store - so please no postulating about oil, price of tea in China, " mark up" etc. P.S. in the business world the term "mark up" is not really used. We use the term "margin" which is quite different. There are many different types - raw margin, mixed margin, mean margin, tier margin, etc. For instance many people think the formula for a 20% "mark up" is simply tacking on .20 to a $1.00. The actual margin formula for 20% is $1.00 divided by 20. When you start talking about triple digit percentages, there is a difference to how the decimals read out. when you are selling millions of units it makes a difference!

Good deals I guess I better start upping the price I pay for them.

Most I ever paid for a pair of Sneakers which I can not wear to long was $100.00

Slam-DUNK!!!!!
Just paid $87 for armored toe, leather upper, slip on work shoes by.......Converse. These have been my work shoe of choice for 12 years. Tough, but comfy as fuzzy slippers. In a 12 hour shift I clock close to 5 miles on my dogs so safety and comfort are equal needs.
Style #4900 if interested.
Cheers!

Quality always pays off. When you spend much time in your shoes they should be comfortable. And remember a good pair would last at least 10 years if taken care off properly.

I think most people who have done military service knows the importances of shoes, how to take care of them as well as your own feet.

I have no problem spending up to 350 £ for a good pair of shoes even if I rarely have to.

Cheers

I bought my girlfriend a couple of pairs of Jimmy Choos 2 weeks ago, so if you think a hundred bucks on shoes is too much, guess again.

Dang dude that must one hell of a girlfriend you have.

I do not think that I would spring for a pair even for my wife of 30 plus years. Glad she does not see this site
Rick on the way to check those converse out I spend about $250.00 a year on work shoes ,but do not seem to hold up to the ink and oil from work that are comfortable.

Cheers

Jeff- They last me 12-18 months on average. Your 250 dollar doggys would have the same life here. Acids,37% aqua ammonia, metal oxides, and the occasional shallow wading in liquid nitrogen. Have a back up pair and keep going.
Cheers!

With a Size 11 (Europe:46) Westfalian swampfoot (Extra wide so my ancestors didn't get bogged down outrunning Romans, Frenchis, Customs...) it's either Birkenstocks, Combat boots or shelling out 120+€ for a pair of shoes.

Having to show up at the customers place and being "sold" as an engineer sadly rules out the combination of Lounge suit and Combat boots. My self-respect rules out Birkenstocks...

I've seen people buy shoes to the point, they take 15 minutes deciding which pair to wear.
Arnold, where can i get a girlfriend like yours?

When you're all grown up and can afford to be called a "sugar daddy', scope out your local college campus....

As a runner, I spend a good amount of money on running shoes. They normally hit their uselessness around the 3 month mark. Other than that, I wear desert combat boots on a daily basis or a pair of sneakers I've had for the better part of the last decade.

I'll spend as much as I need to to ensure my feet are comfortable. Being graced with wide feet, also known in some parts as Shovelfoot , I take my time when finding them. I use the same method I do for choosing ski boots. I pick out several pair that I like the looks of, then try on the first pair. When one foot begins to feel "iffy" I change just that boot/shoe for another one. This will continue until I have the pair that is the most comfortable for me. Haven't had any problems choosing them this way for many years. I think the last pair of boots/shoes I bought were over 3 years ago, maybe longer. I do need some new running shoes though. Too many miles on the treadmill have taken their toll on my current pair. "Q"
