I'm hoping to get there too.

Sandown Exhibition Centre. 5th June 2010 to 7th June 2010 (dates yet to be confirmed though, I have also seen it advertised for the 11th June 2010 to 14th June 2010).

Is there any news on vendoer numbers etc, I have jumped the ditch to attend before and if its big enough I would be keen again. Any info would be much appreciated.

It's traditionally the Queen's birthday weekend, the second Monday in June (June 14th in 2010), although occasionally it's been either the weekend before or after - and thus shortening the modelling bonanza to a mere 2 days instead of its usual 3, and must to the disgust of the local modelling community .

Chas, I'd be interested to hear where you've seen it advertised - I've not heard anything locally yet, although I have seen Sandown's booked it in on their calendar.

Thomo, here's a list of the 2009 vendors, I'd imagine the 2010 line up would be very similar: 2009 Vendors

The editorial on page two says 5th-7th while Sandown says 11th-14th.

Hi Chas,

I'd go with Sandown, as the Queens Birthday is confirmed as Monday 14 June for 2010. Don't think they'd have many people pitching up on Monday 7th June - most of us, vendors included have real jobs to attend to that day

All ready for uni, Chasso? Still going to Snoreville (aka Canberra) ?

Brian, always best to wait until these things are confirmed

Nah looks like I'm staying in wa for the time being!

It's all looking good for a double major in studio production and history.

I'd say so. I attended for the first time last year, going through all 3 days, although there's little different on the 3 days except for the swap 'n sell on the last day. The entrance fee is reasonably low, although I don't recall the exact amount. What do you get? A couple of hundred models, plenty of people all with the same interest (scale modelling), modelling stalls with (mostly) great prices, a chance to make a few new friends...

Here are my pics from last year: Melbourne Model Expo 2009
These were taken the morning of day 2, before the families started arriving. I didn't photograph all the models as I had the missus in tow

You should really go to Melbourne, it's the best Model show I have been to and it's the only one I must go to.

Here was my take on last years event :

and for previous years :

2008 : http://www.ghostofzeon.com/other/expo08.html

and 2007 : http://www.ghostofzeon.com/other/expo.html

If you are planning on going to Canberra, do what I did last year and went up when the Canberra Modellers had there annual show and competition.

The Canberra Scale Modellers site is : http://www.actsms.asn.au/

and here are my pictures from last years event : http://www.ghostofzeon.com/other/scaleACT09.html

Hi Scott , thanks for looking in and the links . Unfortunately as I will be travelling from Perth it will be one trip east only this year .
I will be visiting the war museum in Canberra and every museum that we can fit in as well as Melbourne expo .
By the way where can I find those "mech " type sci-fi suits like the one you built ?

That's a shame you can't do both model shows (they are only 2 or 3 weeks apart with Canberra's being first).

Which mech suit do you mean? The little fellow on the martian style base is a Mashinen Kreuger kit, or Ma.K for short. They are a little hard to find but some online stores like Hobbylink Japan stock some of the newer ones.

As for the other style kits, they are Gundam, which are based on a Japanese animated series and are quite readily available.

Scott , OK thanks , I'm looking for slightly different mecha suits like the little one that you built .
I've built gundam and theyve pricked my interest to build some sci-fi . Something like the mobile suit in Avatar would be great . I'll check out Hobby Link .

Nice work! Love the rusted out pieces on the base and the weathering is nicely done on the Blitz.

Also, try Hobby Search as well for Ma.K stuff :

And the best resource on the web for Ma.K is :
