Heres a question for you all....
If you owned a model shop which hard to find items / ranges would you stock?
(Im not talking kits here, i mean paints etc) This could include items which are not readily available to you.
mine would be
Vallejo paints
mig pigments

My main thing would be more resin figures in stock. Local hobby stores carry every Tamiya and Dragon figure known to mankind, which of course means just about every German soldier ever. What I would really like to see more of is a variety of resin figures so I can actually look at them, and not rely on picutes from the web.

I used to own a hobby shop back in the early 90's, I can tell you the only specialty item any hobby shop should carry if they have their heads screwed on right....the ones that sell!!! Anything else may look good to you and me sitting on the shelf but it is death to the store if it doesn't move.

Anything and everything to do with armour.....including every after market goodie known to man. I've gotta win the lottery first though. So what if it doesnt sell? I wouldn't want customers, they'd stop me from sitting behind the counter at my own little workshop bench trying to use up all my stock!

Seriously? I get fed up with the fact that there doesn't seem to be a decent modeling/hobby store here in the Northwest of England. If it were me I'd like to carry a decent range of aftermarket parts such as Eduard or Aber. I can get 'mainstream' kits from a couple of model shops in Liverpool near where I live, but mention aftermarket and I might as well be talking gibberish.

I agree with you, I buy all my models and most of my paints online. I spend on average £50-00 to £100-00 per month and the local Hobby shop only stocks Airfix. They are not even interested in adding stock on a trial basis.

I have to add that the Airfix he stocks, sells.

It does not matter what I would like, the shop that already has them all already exists.

CRM in St Louis,Mo

All the etch you could ever want, resin out the ying/yang.. and that's GOTTA hurt...
a bookstore full of hobby and reference material attached, more paint lines than I can use, new releases, classic kits, consignemnt stuff.. so look close there may be 4 of the same kit on the shelves with 4 different prices.

Plus it is organized like my own hobby area, piles everywhere!
sure the new releases are generally near the counter and the armor is all over on one wall, but man there are piles of stuff all over that shop.. big fun.. like an aftermarket treasure hunt.

Just don't go there looking for 1 thing and in a hurry.

I usually bring and extra carryon bag to St L when I visit to carry my purchases home

Mike
