Hi My name is Don and I'm a plasticholic. My basement is crammed full of unbuilt kits and some mail order stores send me personal Christmas cards each year

At one point in time I thought I had my problem under control and then it happened EBAY!!!.
Does any one else out there have this same affliction

Wow! IDon't feel so all alone now. Glad to know I'm not the only one :-) I 'm lucky though I don't have to hide them from the wife. In fact she'll even go with to the hobby store and hold the ones I've chosen while i look for more :-)

It happens the same to most of us. Itīs a common thing.

I've pretty much like you! See, I got 11 unbuilt kits and still growing. I wanna buy 3 Sea Harriers. I think we should stop this kind of mentality. There are new and better kits coming everyday. Don't feel depressed if that kit is gone. Maybe in the future, a better one will come out. Better invest on tools before the model.

Here's why. In my case, I buy kits. Usually, the kits I bought are considered rare. So when a rare kit is up, I buy it all the way. I buy kits before buying the tools cause tools can easily be bought. Also kits can wait but tools can't like paints. They dry easily

I have an unbuild leopard, which will be build in the next months for the twilight campaign. I a t-34 which I am going to be building for my own dio unless I throw it in the Barbarossa as it is the 1940 model. I also have two sets of figs for my t34 dio. So I guess I am ok at the moment. Couldn't stockpile a bunch though because I want to build what I have. I know I always want more but I can order them at any time or if the one I want is no longer made I will just pick something else.
Cheers

Hi, my name is Doug and I too am a plastiholic. I just don't seem to be able to control myself. When ever I go out shopping I'm always looking for items that I can use for my models. I'm up to a model a week with simple ones and sometimes more than that. All I ever seem to do is models.

All I ever seem to dream about is how can I improve on the last one I did. My family doesn't know me anymore, I'm always at my bench working on my models. If I don't have models in stock, I have even resorted to repainting an old one that I wasn't happy with! To make things worse, my wife even indulges me in my model buying and she also supplies me with them sometimes!!!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!

Hey Don (and us felllow Plastiholics),
The kit collection is rocking. But I have EIGHT (8), yes, count them, 8 boxes of resin! Plus, about three other drawers of some segrigated stuff that will not get out. sniff, snif, sniff!
Anyway, we are on the same page bro's. Don, your collection is great and the few paint shelves are a bit behind mine! #:-)
Anyway, nice to see "...we are not alone..."!

I wish I could build all of the ones I have at the same time!!! I have enough for 10-15 years work at least! I have bought every one of them with the intention of building it. So, my stock just grows because my ability is far below the pace I need. Oh well, I just continue to enjoy this hobby immensely in all of it's facets!

Hi my name is Chuck and I'm a Plastiholic.
During our last move I was sort of put on notice, wife said I didn't have time to build the kits I have on hand. I think that was her sweet way of saying if I buy any more she'll kill me.
These may be my last words. Last week I picked up a WACO CG-4A for a Dio I'm planning.

Everytime I think I've got it under control, I go to a model show show see something I like and want to build it. Problem is, It usually is some field I haven't played in which necessitates buying 4 or 5 other kits for a collection. Now I've got an interest in Wrecker trcks. Bought an M-88 want a truck which costs $150+ and that is only a conversion. 3 months ago it was M-60 varities, a month before that 1:350 scale Aircraft carriers. 4 months before WW2 and Korean War US tanks. That's how walls get built up. You place an order for 5 or 6 kits at a time and then change your interest

I thought I had this problem under control but it is so easy to fall of the wagon! Every trip to the hobby store, every show I seem to fall a bit deeper into the abyss. Oh well, at least it will be well populated with folks that I have a lot in common with!!!

Well, I too suffer the same "affliction". but not nearly so bad as some others! Maybe there will be a 12 step group to wean the styrene out of our systems, or at least the CA off our fingers! :-) My hat's off to you, Don, your "closet" is better stocked than my local hobby shop. Good luck to us all...

Aw man I'm a baby! I've only got about 10 in the closet, and there inbetween all my lesson plans and schemes of work! I do have around 6 'on the go' at any one time though. It's soooooo hard to actually finish one competely, 'cos it's so much fun starting a brand new one. I think my spouse is getting a bit fed up with "this is gonna be the absolute best one I've ever made!"

Great thread. Any time my wife starts giving me grief over my unbuilt kits, I'll show her this discussion.
