I went for the 5 speed in the end. seemed to be packed with more options then the "bug"

Matan, I'm glad you did. The 5 speed has so many more bending jigs built into it and is still small enough to be easy to maneuver. I got my Bug way before the 5 speed came out.
You made an excellent choice. Enjoy it!

I would suggest the 5 speed from the Small Shop and a pair of Tamiya 74084 bending pliers mini, and of course a #10 blade in your Exacto Knife to cut the part out.

The Tamiya photo etching scissors cut well but do create more filing work than The hobby knife method.

Hoooah!

I use the Xuron photo etch shears and can cut the nub off the PE part clean, leaving no filing. They also never send the part flying into the abyss. I do a lot of PE and I would now never try it without my Xuron PE shears!

Lots of good info. here. I can only add that I have found the Tamiya 400 grit diamond file (P/N 74066) to be especially useful for finishing off those little nubs on PE that are left over from even the most careful snipping. Cheers, Stephen

This thread is a perfect reason while I keep looking at the forums. I just bought a couple kits with PE and never did any thing with PE before. I was going to just use a steel ruler and modeling tools to make the bends. Looks like I should acquire some more tools.
