OK, so I had this topic on one Croatian gaming forum. Anyways, I've made a list of movies with military thematic. There are all kind of movies, drama, romantic, comedy and so on. If you see something missing post below and I'll edit the list and it. If you don't understand some of the movie names, then those are Ex-Yugoslavian or Croatian made movies and they don't have an English title. They are also in different language.

Great list. I think up whatever else I can.

90s
Top Gun (and by extension Hot Shots/Hot Shots: Part Deux
Renaissance Man (military-themed, but not war)
Navy Seals
GI Jane
Delta Force

2000s
United 93 also has a limited military theme but thats a judgement call.
Delta Farce (horrible movie, but you included In the Army Now - a much better horrible movie)

New movie just out in NY and LA and everywhere in a couple months, The Hurt Locker goes under Operation Iraqi Freedom (check out the trailer, amazing and with great reviews). Soon to be released in late 2009-early 2010 will be another Tom Hanks ex-prod/HBO BoB-type series called The Pacific based on Eugene Sledge's book With the Old Breed. It should be in post-production by now.

Thanks for the up-date. I've added the movies you listed.

I've also heard about "The Pacific" and I can't wait to see it. I bet it will be awesome as BoB was. I also saw a trailer for "The Hurt Locker" you mentioned. It looks awesome! This could be just great. Now I can't wait to see it.

How about "Catch 22". At the time they filmed it, they had something like the 16th largest airforce in the world because of all of the B-25's they had flying!

You forgot the greatest 'Cold War' theme there was for some of us SAC crew members; but not according to SAC! As a 30 year crewdog in SAC we always played "Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb".

The Wind and the Lion - Teddy Rossevelt send the Great white Fleet to Morocco. Although not a 'war movie' per sey - the scenes of US Marines capturing the Sultan and fighting it out with the German Infantry and Spanish cavalry at the end are great.
