I'm finishing a Monogram Classics P51 Mustang and the decals disintegrate on touch.
I'm putting a couple drops of dish soap in the water and using Micro Set.
But the things are falling apart with the slightest touch of brush, finger, or scalpel edge.

Is there a way to mitigate this short of buying third party decals?

Thanks!

I've had Micro Set kill early Monogram decals. Get some MicroScale Decal Saver/decal Film and treat the decals before immersing them. That might help. Dishwashing detergent? Never heard of that for decal work.

Never heard of that... cool. I have some old models (70's) whose decals would benefit from that if I build them!

as far as the dish soap - it something I used to do years ago. just a drop or two.

I had testor old ambulance and the decals slivered completly. When I wrote to Testors they kindly sent me a new set and advised me to sray them with a light shot of clear coat. You have to cut them out real good but it stopped the slivering of the decals. They snuged right down with solv-a-set.
