I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and picked up Tamiya's 88MM Flak gun. (Half price, couldn't pass it up) When I start this guy it will be the fourth time I have built this same kit. It is a good way to gage how my skills have improved over the years. Anyone else built the same kit three or four times?

I've built 16 HMMWV models in my recent memory (ESCI, Italeri, Tamiya, and Academy in multiples) until I got burned out on them. Tamiya's new one has gotten me looking at them again.

Italeri's M24 Chaffee (a lot of fun to build), Tamiya's M16 MGMC half-track (an oldie but still a goodie), AFV Club's M35A2 & M35A1 Deuces (wonderful kits - and the A2 sadly out of production recently), Skybow's M38 Jeeps and WC-series Weapons Carriers (just because they're so dang cool), and Italeri's M9xx 5-ton trucks (spank me they're more trouble than they're worth but I keep comin back) are ones that I revisit.

I had to get into building tanks over the last couple of years just to balance the softskins out. No multiples there other than the Chaffee. I've built more than one Walker BullDog, though, and I can see more coming down the pipeline...

I guess in my life there are a few standouts. My first kit was an Aurora M-46, I've built that at least 3 times. The classic PT 109, Arizona (5x in 3 different scales)Missouri (6x in three different scales) Tiger 1 5x(so far) King tiger 4X in 48th and 35th. Airplanes, don't even get me going on them

I've built more M1 Abrams than I can shake a stick out. Have most of them in various stages of damage. I tend to build it, display it, 2 years later move, box it up, and then build another at the new home. Repeat. I've done several M113s and HMMWVs as well as the M48/M60 tanks. I've done the Tamiya M4A3 Sherman a couple of times as well.

I must have built more than 10 shermans over the years in 1/35 scale. Most of them have been Tamiya and a couple of Italeri. It seems every time I take a break from the hobby, the first kit I buy when I start again is the sherman.

- 20+ M113s (and variations) - For the M113 we've got 4 different Italian versions/derivatives on top of the standard ones (M113, M106, etc...)
- 4 M47s - I just love them
- 6 M24s - As above
- 8+ Leopard 1A1/A2I - combining towers, tracks, hulls, extra armour, raodwheels and so on I can make many more...
Ciao

Reading this got me laughing....I realised I had bought and built alot of Shermans in my days...way before dragon came out with it I had built an M4A3E8 using the turret from Italeri the tamiya M4A3 and the old Tamiya M4A3e8 ...I also built the kits from MP models of an early M4 and M4A3 ...Their M4A4 also..(All using the M4A3 base kit.along with others like the old Nichimo M4A1 (can we all say "Terrible!!")But in all the time I did Shermans I never once built the kit straight from the box .Those Sherman days are gone now but every once and a while I look at those kits still sitting on my shelf not built and say ..."one of these days..I'll get back to them"..Still have an M4a3 105 ,M4A3 original,M4,M4A1 76mm,M4A1 early,M50,M4A4 ,and lets not talk M10's ,M12,Achilles...Thank god I build german stuff..lol #:-)

I've lost count of the number of 1/48th 109's I've done. Done a few Panthers and Tigers too. Actually it would be easier to count the number of kits of which I've done only one.

I've built the Tamiya 88 flak twice, the M3 Lee 3 times, the M8 GMC 2 times, and Revell's CH-54 A Sikorsky Skycrane 3 times. I just love that giant bug-look of the CH-54!

Greets All,

Long ago when I fell in love with the AVG, I decided to build a squadron of P-40Bs. Not knowing what a squadron would be and gleaning my reference material from comics, I built eight of Monogram's P-40. They were all marked for the AVG but were in a riot of schemes. These I do not count.

Since becoming a 'serious' modeler I have built said model twice. I have built numerous other P-40s in various scales. I have built two of many kits, the FlaK 36 inclusive. Do any of you recall Revell's Master Modeller Club? As I recall, to join you sent in a list of what you had built. They would send you a card or certificate of status based on the number of models. I was a kid who built a model or two a day and by evening they'd be firecracker-scorched shards in the backyard. I sent in a coupon and an honest list of some 100-200 models, qualifying me as a master. Wonder why they never sent me my award...?

I have now begun building models that I have/had that are from my 'transition era'. I'm on my third Tamiya A6M2 and Jack and Rufe. One thing is that models I want again, there are now better kits out. I now can ignore the Revell 1/32 Bf-109 for their Hasegawa moodel. So, have I built three 1/32 Bf-109s, or three Revell 1/32 Bf-109 and a Hasegawa-Pro-Modeller 1/32 Bf-109?

All the best,

Fred

I'm rather partial to T34 models on the armour side, and Spits on the air side.

Like most of you,as my skills and tools have improived,I have revisited some of my old favorites.Even getting more up to date referances makes me 86 something I thought I had done well.
So,I have done the classic Monogram P-38,TBF Avenger, and the Dauntless. Love them moving parts.
I have done the 1/48th B-24 for my self 3 times.I have bought another "Lil'Coffin" hot rod, just to do one agian.I had built one when I was real young.
I have redne the M-24,and the M-47.And of course, the Tamiya Bulldog. Now I have the AFV club one,and that will be on a shelf, right next to the Tamiya one.

I have built a few A.M. p-51 Mustangs, even though they are out of my normal scale. I also have done three Fujimi OV 10 Broncos, several 1/72 P-51s, and a couple Heller Bf-108 Taifun. (1 military, and 1 Luft Hansa) Airliners also diverted me for a while, with a small fleet of 737s and DC-9s. My worse offender, however, is Revell's '32 Ford. I am even building another one right now. This one's a coupe with a blown Hemi and lots of attitude.

I've built this kit about 6-7 times, and iam stil going to build about 5+ more. But different versions, aranments.

Its the M35 series. 6 guntrucks now, 1 supply truck, and iam going to be builind 2 more supply trucks, and another guntruck.

I've also built a few M113's. All of academy's kits, and i think 2 tamiya kits. but I didnt do to well on them. Got them when I was first starting out. but plan to re-due most of them.

I guess I have built the Tiger I about six times. But I have bought about Panthers. I think it may be a sickness, I'm not sure.
