Hi folks,

I just wanted to introduce myself and say how much I enjoy this site. I've been lurking for a few months, particularly the Rivet Review Board which is amazingly inspiring! I made my first model when I was 8, an Aifix Sherman Tank, 1:72, but I don't get much time these days what with work and all the rest. However, I just built a display cabinet in my dining room and I'm determined this year to make a start on something good to go in there. WWII fighters always did it for me and the recent photos of Holdfast's Corsair, well not much else to say really!

Kind regards, Nick

Hi Nick, welcome This place is awsome :-)
I know what you mean about work getting in the way of modelling, I recently started a new job :-) I was out of work for 7 months and did a massive amount of modelling, particularly after finding this site. I actually blew up my compressor I was working it that hard :-) I too am building display cabinets in my dinning room.
Thanks for the remarks about my Corsair Glad you like it, next instalment soon. Having to concentrate on my Hurri for the Battle for Britain campaign at the moment.
Where abouts in the UK are you, I live in Harworth, north Notts :-)

Hello and welcome! There's nothing better to fill a display case with than some fine examples of your handiwork. See you around!

I've actually just gone through the same sort of thing. Started a new job three months ago after a 8 months of being out of work. I spent the most of the time building a 4mm GW Pannier Tank in etched brass for my Grandad. Not that I'm particularly into Railway Modelling, but I wanted a challenge! I also built up quite a good toolbox in the process.

Anyway, I'm going to make a start on building a collection of 1:48 WW2 era aircraft (tho they have to be fairly small, my cabinet is only 260mm deep!), and I'm thinking about starting with a Tamiya Fairey Swordfish, so any comments on that kit would be greatly appreciated!

I live in South Woodford, North East London, up by Epping Forest (what's left of it :-) ). And there's a lack of good model shops! I'll certainly be back for some advice on washing with oils (I've never used oil paints before). The panel lines on your Corsair are outstanding!

Thanks again folks (back to work... )
