hi! welcome sa bago nating tambayan regarding your question, wala talagang nabibiling after market ng kotse dito satin pwede ka umorder sa HLJ (hobby links japan) pero masyadong mahal lalo na mga engines and very limited ang variety. kaya ako puro scratchbuilding nalang, mas exciting pa

Hi palin! It's great to finally see you here! Most of us transferred here after the great PEx meltdown. The group is still more or less complete with some new faces. Are you going to the ToyCon next week?

Don't ever try ordering online!

Pucha ++30% tax!!! Si palin ata nag-oorder ng PE from HLJ. PE is thin and light so parang letter lang. Kits are another question. Good luck!

Sorry

PE = photoetched - thin sheets of metal replacement parts. Some kit plastic parts are too thick or innacurate and PE can be used to replace these parts. Some kit brands (AFV Club, DML, new Tamiya Panzer IV) contain PE in the box. PE sheets are rare and expensive here. Best bet is to get them online.

Resin - softer, more brittle plastic. Used to replace bigger parts like sprockets, wheels, turrets, cockpits, etc. May locally-made resin heads and figures din tayo available at STC and JMN. Very highly detailed and sharp. Medyo mahal nga lang. Saw some Black Box 1/48 cockpits at JMN and the cheapest is worth 1600 pesosessss

AM = aftermarket - parts that don't come with the kit and have to bought separately. Kasama na PE and resin dito. Parang side skirts at spoilers ng kotse kumbaga. Kasama na rin dito ang replacement tracks, aluminum gun barrels, at decals.

AMS = Advanced Modeler Syndrome - a class of modeler that buys all AM parts and can't finish anything because he/she will never be satisfied with a kit's accuracy. Wala pa naman sigurong may AMS sa atin #:-)

Re: AMS definition - a sever illness that strikes the model builder, symptoms are extreme urges to super-detail a kit - even if it already a good kit. This includes wiping out one's wallet (or his spouse's wallet) of money to buy AM parts, to serious scratchbuilding - like replacing almost 99.99% of the kit.

I think I have AMS. Take my Cold War campaign entry for example. I planned on building the SA-9 Gaskin strictly OOTB. But did I, huh did I? Hell NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Looking at the kit mufflers, I just HAD to scratchbuild them. Looking at the reference photos, I just had to add tow cable harnesses. Looking at the non-existent, sorry excuse for vision blocks, I just had to drill them out! Sigh.......

BTW, having AMS does not make one immediately an advanced modeller. Sometimes AMS leads to advanced model builders, sometimes just insane, frustrated folks like me, and maybe even a more dangerous, malevolent form of AMS turns happy model builder into evil mutant.

one thing that i think helps me to do these small details i think is my background in car modelling where i really spice up the details in the dash and the engine and of course my being an artist also helps a lot ( graduate of fine arts major in PAINTING ;p )
