Dave, that is priceless. Shame to think a bigger geek than either of us will actually pay seven grand for an action figure.

The difference is that VERY early in the ORIGINAL production process, Kenner made the saber out of 2 pieces instead of one. The tip would extend out about 1 1/4 inches from the body of the saber. The later versions were made as 1 piece saber to save in production costs. There are only about 8-9 known to still be packaged, and less than 15 loose. Many of the existing DT Obi-Wan's are in established collections!

Well, in that case, where's my Credit Card? Two-piece light saber? Truly a cultural icon for our times...

hey, come on guys "This action figure has been professionally authenticated and graded by AFA (Action Figure Authority)."
What higher recommendation do you want? I mean...the Action Figure Authority?

Cheers,

if its $7000 staring bid how much did it actually cost him to list it , i understand that there is a market for collectable toys, but for $7000 i would expect the real Alex Guniess dressed up in the box

But hey, it's never been removed from it's original packaging, it's a collectible!
Well, at least compared to all the other madness like haunted shoes and celebrity lookalike cereals & chips, that's still relatively sane.

Damn. I just chopped the telescopic part of the lightsaber on my Obi Wan to use as a scratched .50cal pintle mount on my sherman...

There's something out there for everyone.

I wouldn't pay $ 7,500 for a 1917 double die obverse Lincoln Cent graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service but that's 'what it's worth'

He actually previously listed the item and got bids over $4,200...

More power to him.

Sir Alec Guinness is dressed up in a box. But if you tried to sell it on Ebay it would be illegal, as well as pretty darn creepy.

Indeed. In addtition to violating the rules against sale of human remains, the police might be interested in such a blatant case of grave robbery...

Of course, putting it into perspective - this $7000 wouldn't buy the Hockey Mom (Member of the AFA?) a pair of socks....

Holy crop Dave I´ve just took a look at what it went for .If I´m not mistaken a certifiable idiot made just one bid & took it for just $500 less than the opening bid!! I wonder if I could sell a T-shirt that Mick Jagger coughed on because if people pay that money for that crap anything will sell, besides if Monica Lewinsky can raise no eyebrows for saving that dress in the wardrobe for so long anybody can.

Hi
Very nice item indeed. Way out of my league.I have to admit that for my sin's I have a much bigger collection of Star Wars items than I ever will have model Kits. I've been buying since I was a kid & still am. I've some pretty valuable items in my collection But that sort of money is just plain stupid.
And to make things worse is some1 bought it. ( My Wife would have killed me if I'd bid ).

I used to collect old Star Wars toys and that's not that uncommon of a price for a graded Double Telescoping Ben Kenobi. Granted I would never pay that kind of money for something that in the end is just a toy. But then most people also see buying models as a waste of money as well. To each his own.
