This was my first project to re-enter the hobby after an 8 year hiatus. I ride a 1997 Ducati 916 that has been modified a fair bit, so I decided to take the Tamiya 1/12 916 as a base to perfectly recreate my own bike. I ended up scratchbuilding a lot of the electrical system detail, correcting kit "errors", and adding quite a few aftermarket parts (including a 1/12 scale link by link PE chain, very cool and fun little addition). I won't go into too much detail, I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

The real bike:

Nice looking bike, both the model and the real one.
Could you tell me where you found the link by link scale chain?

I used a Model Factory Hiro chain kit, it's the easiest to assemble. Pre-cut PE plates and plastic sprue links that you solder to assemble. You get enough chain to do about 2 kits (if you are careful with your measurements and don't have to chop off excess length), almost 9 inches in total. I paid 17$ from StradaSportsStore.com (highly recommended, excellent source of motorcycle and automotive kits and detail parts, reasonable and prompt shipping).

Other detail bits:
Dexter Models Senna transkit (with PE and resin details)
Dexter Models tire valve stems
Studio 27 carbon fibre decal sheet (not the best, stiff and very poor adhesion)
Top Studio 0.5mm rivets
Top Studio exhaust springs
Top Studio electrical connector kit (resin connectors with miniature insulated wire and shrink tubing)
MFH chain kit, comes with white metal sprockets for Tamiya's Moto GP bikes which I modified to fit this build

Yowsa. Nice bikes both. I've been thinking of bikes myself, but I'm scared of heights, spiders and gloss paint

Chaine must have taken some time, but what catches my eyes are the fasteners for the fairing. Kind of small in 1:12. Nice work!
