Tonight on BBC2 at 22.00 hours (GMT+1) until 23.00 hours is a documentary called

Battleplan: El Alamain

Quoted Text

Father and son team Peter and Dan Snow tell the story of one of the great British military victories of the Second World War: the Battle of El Alamein.

Using ground-breaking graphics, Peter Snow tells of the struggle of strategy and counter-strategy between the German General Erwin Rommel and the British General Bernard Montgomery, which happened sixty years ago almost to the day.
Dan Snow finds out what it was really like for the ordinary soldiers - many the same age as him - as they fought in the searing heat and blinding dust of the Egyptian desert.

Is this a new doc? There is a series on the History channel that does a gret job with its format of doing major battles of the War. I wonder if this is one of those, it's been out for 5 or 6 years.
