Really? I thought that putting profiles are a "lawful" part of any forum.

Anyway, I'll try to check if I do have pics of me. In the meantime, I'm finished taking pics of some of my models. I'll be posting 'em here.

hey angela ,
Awesome models you got there!!..though photos a bit dark . But the vehichles gives you a very good study and contrast for the winter wash and the desert dust weathering. COOL!!

Thank you, blitz.

Actually, those vehicles are part of a World War 2 winter diorama set in the Ardenes region. I didn't put winter wash to the armored car so there would be a variation of colors (a camouflaged halftrack and a yellow armored car). Anyway, starting 1943, the Germans painted their vehicles dark yellow.

Well, I don't really consider them as "damn good builds" or even close to that. And my photography skills really suck. I asked my dad, who is a professional photographer, to shoot better pics of the models. I will be posting them once he does that.

But thank you for the compliment GIBeregovoy and Blitz.

Yes, they are 1/35th scale. I'm also incorporating some Fallschimjagger and Volksgrenadier troops to the diorama.

GIBeregovoy, your work is very good too. I envy that scratchbuilt (or modified) Challenger (or is it a Leopard) turret of yours (mouth waters...yum yum yum). I believe that is for a futuristic tank of some sorts? Maybe we can share some scratchbuilding tricks/techniques.

I also love your Leopard diorama. It's so cool. What material did you do use for constructing the tall grass?

Blitz, I like your "nuun command truck." Very cool. You are scratchbuilding it right? If you are, tell me, where did you get the styrene sheets? I tried to call plastic manufacturers here in Cebu and ask them if they sell styrene or polystyrene sheets. The stupid secretaries don't know anything about them. They thought I'm looking for plastic grocery bags. They just either wave me off or ask me to come to thier office. In place of styrene sheets, I'm using those transparent food packs that you find in supermarkets.

But I really want styrene. What should I tell those manifacturers so they will recognize that I want styrene?

hello angela,

Have you tried going to signmakers or their suppliers. Styrene sheets or what they call "high impact polystyrene sheet" are usually available in 0.5 or 1 mm thk. If you really can't get one in Cebu, maybe somebody can help you here in this forum. I wish I can assist you but I am not presently residing in manila.

Compared to mine, yours are.

How large exactly will this be? And what's the setting (i.e. year/campaign)?

Quoted Text

GIBeregovoy, your work is very good too.

Not as good as yours, I'm afraid (the camera always improves the look of the model hehehe) But thanks.

I envy that scratchbuilt (or modified) Challenger (or is it a Leopard) turret of yours (mouth waters...yum yum yum).

That'd be the M1A2 (bigger basket, new gun, etc.), Leopard 2A5 (bigger turret bustle, new gun), T-80U (new turret) and T-34 (ERA, 105mm gun)

I believe that is for a futuristic tank of some sorts?

Yup. Actually for the Armorama Campaign Twilight 2000 (check the Campaigns page and the Campaign Central Command forum of this site for more info)

Maybe we can share some scratchbuilding tricks/techniques.

Sure! But I reckon you'll be the one lecturing me more on that one. (I'm currently at the 'slash and burn' stage with lots of inefficiency hehehe)

Thanks! That'd be the two M1A2s marching thru tall grass laid with mines. My entry in the Nationals two years ago. Now it's a wreck (our cat seems to like torturing it - at least she hasn't taken a crap on the grass hehehe). The grass is Woodland Scenics Field Grass. Actually, I heard it was horse hair, dyed to various colors. Was available at JMN (and I believe I was responsible in its being out-of-stock at JMN hehehe). Actually, for a diorama like that, using Woodland Scenics Field Grass is NOT advisable in a purely financial point of view - it is expensive to say the least. Fortunately, my good uncle (who also builds models) decided to help out by FEDEXing a box full of the grass (which, admittedly, NEARLY ran out with the diorama not being finished). I remember the grimaced faces of the IPMS-Philippines (it wasn't BAC yet at that time) back then when I explained them about the grass. They must've thought "Woodland Scenics - ouch!" hehehehe! In hindsight, a cheaper alternative would be wigs (I hear that you could buy cheap ones in some shops), 'static' feather dusters, or the walis tambo hairs (the latter, though, stinks when dyed in jobos - I thought I created some sort of Bio WMD - and is preferred to be used as a corn field or wheat field).

Hello GIB,

Well, I consider them as "average built" but thank you for the compliment.

All the while, I thought your tank was a Leopard. It's an Abrams pala.Do you have a picture of your futuristic tank?

I love sci-fi subjects. Do you know of a 1/35th scale kit of the siege tank in Starcraft?

A few months ago, I bought a cheap but nice wig specifically for that purpose...tall grass. It has a nice mousy blond color. I haven't used it yet, though.

I've never tried using walis tingting or static feather dusters but it sounds like a good alternative.

Do you mean a picture on which I'm basing the model or a picture of the finished model?

If former - none. This is purely imaginative design speculation (of course, with a douse of a bit of realism).

If latter - also none. It's still unfinished.

Hi GIB,

Oh, I forgot to answer your other question.

My winter diorama is 16 X 22 inches. That's the size of four short bond papers put together.

Uuuy, you know? Your futuristic tank inspired me to build a future tank. I'm thinking of a seige tank.Something like in Starcraft. I still have to check the design though.

Post a pic of your tank kung matapos na yun ha? Masyado akong excited eh.

Angela
