Still think the M113 is a great ride, that is after being a leg for to many miles.

I love the old Dodge power wagons we used back in the 50's and 60's. They would go anywhere. Used to chase jackrabbits at NAS Miramar. Wish I had one to restore.

Hi,
Sadly us poor Bootnecks did'nt have any gouchie kit or vehicles

  we 'yomped' everywhere.
I learnt to drive in the 'then in service truck' Bedford RL 3 ton truck GS, ( for all those non brits) Accurat Armour have bought one out in resin if you want to see what they were like. a straight 6 cylinder block, petrol engine with the top speed of 75 miles an hour, what a truck. Oh and I really enjoyed a ''taxi'' ride in a huey when about six of my Marine detatchment were cross decked to an american ship for a week, hey you guys we had to bring our own beer

 , food was great though.
                             Cheers Mike

Jumping out of a DC-10 at the Airborne Test Board, Pope AFB, landing at St Mere Eglise DZ on Bragg
Pillow Jump ( little opening shock), i felt as if I had landed in a cloud ahhhhhhhhhh and then landed in a ravine. Better than a Steeple.

I think my favorite vehicle I have ever been in was the LVS (logistics vehicle system) deffinately a fun maching to be in and watch in use, as far as operated I would have to go with the MTVR with the plasan armor, even though it was training and I was not a licensed operator, I got a bit of wheel time, it almost makes you feel invincible!
I would love to get behind a Marine Corps Mercedez -Benz G-Wagon 290 Interim Fast Attack Vehicle, rarely seen, but amazing.

First trip in a C-119. It was never meant to fly, but then again, neither was the bumble bee. Hard to beat the C-130, though. They still fly over my area here...the 129th Air Guard (Rescue Wing) has them. My plane...

I have to agree with you, the C130 is like flying a humvee, I have seen these beasts do things that seem physically impossible for a plane its size

The Goat was fun to drive, but a nightmare to maintain. It was a perfect example of how the Army could screw up a decent design. I never found anywhere that a Goat couldn't go, and the front and rear axle steering reallt came in handy on ice.

For combat The M1A1, the Cadillac of move, shoot and communicate. However for non serious work I liked the M48A5. it was easier to tinker on and had a stearing wheel.

It depends what you mean with "favourite vehicle". If it's meant in military life, than I have 2. First it's the Leopard 2 tank I was on as a gunner/loader in 1986 and the other one is my faithfull MAN 5 to gl truck I drove in the army from 1987 to 1989. Still have a picture somewhere ....
If you mean it in civil life it's the car I own now, a 2006 Ford Focus TDCI, which just took me 3 weeks through Norway. Just a great car ....

My favorite vehicle while serving in the army has to be the M-60a1.

My favourite vehicle in which I crewed was the FV180 CET (Combat Engineer Tractor) There iswas a lot of bad press about it, but I found them to work like a treat if they were looked after. I would get one now if I could afford it.
The CET is closely followed by the Chieftain AVLB of which I commanded one on Op Granby in 1991. Never failed us, and that one is on display at the RE museum at Chatham, Kent.
"Du bist unmöglich " really sums me up at times. I was told that one evening in Hamburg circa 1990.

Didn't really matter as long as it moved...
As the saying goes, "The worst kind of ride is better than the best kind of walk."
(A saying that ranks right up there with, "Check's in the mail;" "Milk an' cookies in the ORP;" and the ever popular, "Trucks are waiting on the DZ."
As long as transport arrived, it was my favorite!
Because if it wasn't there, it was, "Suck it up, buttercup!"

Being Canadian my favorite is the Bombardier Iltis. Next in line is the Unimog.

M548 ammo carrier for my gun section, 1st tour in Germany. B Battery 2/28th F.A.. Loved that vehicle! What fun to drive and easy to maintain. Wish I could find a model of that. I understand AFV CLUB made one but it's no longer available. Oh well!
