He used to have the handle of "coolstuds" here on Armorama before he was smoked out. If you google his email address, it's quite frightening the list of scams he's performed. I wonder when "Texas justice" will catch up with him?

I just finished reading through the RC site forums (stayed in the office for lunch). He is not well liked in several of those forums.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I understand from the threads over at Track Link is that he was trying to sell those books while at the same time already negotiating the sale and trying to collect the money for the books with someone else?

This guy is making us Texans look bad!

He's been doing it for years.
Maybe he needs a little old fashion Texas home grown justice.

GET A ROPE!

WALL TO WALL COUNSELING SOUNDS GOOD RIGHT ABOUT NOW!

Seriuosly, I wonder if he comes up here to Kings Hobby? I need to ask Rudy if he does and knows about this junk thats going on. As a matter of fact, I wonder if I've bumped into this guy around the shows here in Texas. Does any one have a picture of this guy they can post, so we can put the word out at the local shows, especially since it is the time of the year for all the Texas shows to start happening.

Sounds about right. In the end, he gets the money and everyone else gets nothing. He has been around awhile. Coolstud, piper1944, and a few others here.

Hey,
ROY!,thanks for the update! we all need to know about these things,I know it doesn't happen often here, but when it does,it hurts us all,the person(s) out $/trade,and others ,who have to stand by and helplessly watch, someone going thru it.Sad thing is that it's spread out over time and we can forget who we need to be cautious of,wasn't it their a long time member here who ended up stiff some here(Gray?),and a few others, and have tried to come back using a different name,as in this case. This person here has used four names now and a couple different user names here, these three books are $80.00 each, thats some serious coin now.
Maybe we should have a wall of shame/poop list here,at the top of this forum ,kind of a warning, that only a admin has control over,if we have concerns about someone, we can send a PM to the admin, and they can watch closer and if theirs a legit problem, can add a name to the list.
If we don't police are selfs ,who will?the law, that doesn't seam to work out all of the time, and for some ,it'll be to late. Can you imagine that guy over at TL,if he had sent out the $240,for those three books!OMG! There are months where I have trouble paying my $50.00 water bill, and the dollar amount shouldn't matter, with six kids,I'll have trouble scrapping up $20.00 for a model,at times, this is why I'll go to garage sales and pick up odd models that I'll never build, and list them here, hoping for a even trade, for something we will build, and everyones happy. If someones out their,to do us wrong,we need to know about it, I vote for a " wall of shame/poop list",because I just can't remember all of those,I need to be cautious of.

just my 2 cents, sorry,if I sound like a broken record

Joe

A Wall of Shame wouldn't do much good because by the time he makes an appearance with a new alias, the damage is already done. The only time we find out he's back is when some unsuspecting victim posts a message inquiring about "Rob Richards, John Meyers, etc." of Houston, TX. The victim then describes a deal gone bad and the description of the deal is identical to the past MO of Ken Myers. Most of the veterans of the online modeling community put the "Houston" together with the details of the bad deal and figure out he's back.

He's done so many folks wrong in so many different hobby forums (RC racing, RC helicopters, RC robots, armor modeling) thorughout the last 5 or so years (read at least one thread dating 2003). Some of the early ones actually got money returned (several months later), and there are always one or two guys who chime in that they had a successful trade. But the majority of folks I read about lost money or merchandise, never to recoup the loss.

This is a more recent RCtech thread that shows his same ways back in late 2007. Those guys get taken for some big money ($200+) with their RC cars and helicopters. Makes the kit or two that modelers lose seem like small potatoes.

Too bad there really isn't much legal action we can take agianst these guys. I mean, it's the Internet so caveat emptor (Let the buyer beware), right? Sure would be nice to see these guys punished for doing what they do.

I think it is still mail fraud, regardless of whether the internet is involved or not.

Jim

It is mail fraud, folks are sending payment through the mail and expect to receive goods through the mail. Some of those RC site forum threads discuss cars worth $430. That man was eventually able to get his money back (in $100 MO increments over the course of several months). He basically got a $430 loan for a few months for the price of a few money orders and several stamps. Not a bad deal, it would have cost him well over a hundred dollars to get the same loan from a Pay Day lender.

He's come back again posting under another alias: Gilbert Galindo and using this email address.

[email protected]

He tried to post some armor books FS on Track Link.

Maybe the Swine Flu will find its way into Ken's lungs...

Thanks very much for the heads up Roy. Being fairly new into the hobby again I had never heard of this clown until now.

This is very valuable information to the community.
