The new version definitely hasn't flown off the shelves like the Guinness one - maybe they're hoping that it will do as a Mothers' Day present too?

There's a reason for that, it don't taste right. Love marmite, adored the guiness version, not sure the champagne version will be finished before it goes off.

Here in SA we've always only had traditional Marmite... recently they introduced "Cheese & Marmite" flavoured Marmite.... I think i'll have to give it a go soon

Does that mean that cheese and cheese and marmite sandwiches are the order of the day?

What is this marmite you speak of, exactly? Sounds creepy from what I read on wiki.

Peas with pearls onions, and cheese melted over the top, yummy......

I guess to each his own, as I still love spam, beans, and weenies and beans. I actually developed a taste for Lima Beans and Ham.

I've yet to run across the wonderful product in any of my local food shops, even those with the two aisles of "International Foods".

Andy, if I don't like it I can either use it for weathering, or pass it on to Shaun.

Dave you either love it or hate it, but give it a chance by spreading it thinly at first. But just think of it like this: remember your first sip of beer as a kid ? We all went yuk too but not now eh? As for weathering, not good I´m afraid but mixed with some vegetation could make a great monsoon season Vietnam base floor if it wasn´t for the smell.

Dave,

Some advice if I may, I think the safest way to lose your "Marmite virginity" to have it spread thinly on a slice of warm white toast, with lashing of butter (or marge if you prefer).

I'll set up the tripod and camera, and take photos of the experience.

Now if someone from down under wishes to send a jar of Vegimite, for a totally unbiased Yank Taste Test, let me know.

Dave,

The only problem is that Marmite from the UK will get to you quicker by post. So if I send you some Vegemite it will take longer to arrive and chances are, your taste buds would already be permanently spoilt by the acidic, salty taste of Marmite.

The only fair way to do this it is to wait until the Vegemite arrives, then do the taste test. In the meantime, you will probably have to hide the Marmite from your wife or she might throw it out, thinking the dog got to the peanut butter.

Send me your address if you want,
Chas

PM sent Chas.
Now I promise to not open the Marmite until the Vegemite arrives.
I'll try to get John-"Pvt Parts"- Fortier to not only witness this taste test, but to also take the photos of it. (hopefully he'll be all settled into his new digs by the time the packages arrive.
Of course I won't ask him to join me in the taste test, as I wouldn't want to jeopardize our friendship.

PM recieved Dave,

Contrary to popular belief, Australians do not grow Vegemite in their back-yards so I will have to pop down to the shop and grab some for you. I will try and get it in the post by Tuesday.

Tell Andy to include a note to your mailman not to accidently use the marmite to paint his tyres, or oil his motorcycle engine.

Hi Matthew, Maybe John and I could forestall this great taste test until AMPS East, and have record numbers witnessing it, and photographing it for prosperity. We could do it at the bar, after John has his alloted afternoon ration of martinis. Maybe even do a video for U-tube! I've always wanted to be an actor.
