I just finished watching A Guy Named Joe on Tuner Classic Movies 11:45am – 2:00am Central Standard Time.. It was pretty good..
This is the first time I have ever seen B-26 Marauders used as Japanese Betties though.. Some good footage of early P-38E’s or F’s..

In some of those old war movies you will all kinds of strange things. Like using T-6's for Zero's. Wake Island has some of the worst looking Japanese in it as well.

The Japanese planes in Tora!Tora!Tora! were also doctored T-6's.

In 1943, we were a little low on Betty Bombers in the US inventory.
Unfortunately, I watched the Great Raid over the holidays, and behold, the SDB's were attacking Pearl Harbor again.

They use what they can at the time. I've seen P-51's for Messerschmidts. T-6's for Zeros, Vals, and Kates. F-84's for Migs. And of course M-47's and M-48's for Panzers. One of the first movies I saw where they made some attempt to portray accurate German aircraft was "Battle of Britain". "Kelly's Heroes" was the first try at showing what a Tiger really looked like. I think those pseudo-Tigers were left over from some Russian documentary. Now with CGI hollywood is making some good portrayals and trying to be historically accurate.
