My DEEP heartfelt thanks to you ALL for reaquinting me with all these terms!! I was trying to remember a few so I could post some, but you guys have completely outdone me. And at the same time, given me a very pleasant trip down 'memory lane'.....my thx to you all !!!!!!

BUT! If I didn't think of you all as family, I'd have a few bones to pick with you derators of the 'better half' of the Navy Dept. The MARINES! (more on that later).

Anyway, I am really enjoying the thread. Just another reminder of why I have liked this site since the beginning...the people in it! Keep up the good work !

BTW, isn't 'Major G' something the Airforce 'Squibs' / 'Choir boys' / 'Corfram cuties' have to deal with?? Or was that the Navy 'Squids' / 13 button AssH#*&#s' / 'Levi Puss*#s' / Easy Cheeser's / Bearded Beauties ?....hehe....

I have been SGT "Q" for the longest time, now SFC "Q". If someone can pronounce my last name right the first time its either luck or they are familiar with spanish. It rolls off the tongue quicker too. Glad everybody is participating and enjoying. I thouhgt of one other one that we used to call our helmets when I was on jump status......

Skid plate. Never failed, rough landing and you are being dragged and it seemed the only thing that you could do was dig your head in and hope it gave you enough time to pop your chute releases. Ahhh the memories.. heh heh heh

FIDO (My comapny motto) - F**k it, drive on
DAWGS (my company nickname) - Don't ask, we got screwed
CRASH AND BURN - used by airborne and pilots for "crashing and burning" alkso used for any kind of accident.
AUGER-IN- Another version of Crash and Burn
BULLET LAUNCHER & SMOKE POLE - old names for rifles

as I write and remember other terms come to mind, some recall chuckles some don't.
some were funny at the time but recollection puts them in a different light.
one I remember was Krispy critters. A breakfast cereal back in the 60's. Also what we called the remains found after napalm strikes.

pickle suit - the old all-green Army uniform worn until the early 1980s.
tree suit - modern BDUs
meat bombs - paratroopers
cadillacs - the gunner's control handles in a tank. Originally called that because the controls were marked "Cadillac Gage Corp."
shoulder-fired bullet launcher - rifle
pig - the name given to the M60 machine gun when you had to carry it more than a few feet.
Ma Deuce - the venerable M2 machine gun, still in service after ~80 years!

I'll probably think of 3 more as soon as I press the 'Submit' key!! :-)

Arrow : used as a verb (eg, I was arrowed by ... , i arrow you... ). means to designate some unlucky bugger for a sh*t task
