I was just wondering how many of you have had a bad glue accident. 3 days ago I was gluing up some forms to pour some plaster slabs and in just seconds my thumb, first, second, and third fingers were glued to the super glue tube:p . Some how the tube brock without me noticing and I was all glued up. Thank goodness for super glue remover!!! Saved the day again. #:-)

I had an old tube of glue in a storage box and forgot the cap and the glue all leaked out all over a bunch of parts for a kit. Made a heck of a mess and to say the least ruined the kit.

One time I dribbled superglue without noticing and glued a glass to the table... had to break it off... Not pretty and I almost cut myself.

I am a klutz when it comes to glue and paint.. have to really think about what I do when I model...

I use ethyl acetate as glue. One time I was gluing and for some odd and stupid reason I instead of putting the brush in the jar to fill up on glue, I opened my mouth and put the brush on my tongue!!!

Don't ask me why!!

I have never had the tendency to put things in my mouth and it happened so reflex-like that I didn't have time to think about what I was doing. Luckily enough for me I didn't swallow and the brush was "empty". It burned like you know what and I didn't have any taste on the tip of my tongue for a week, but since then I am very cautious and aware when I am gluing... believe me the stuff does not taste good!!!!

I once had a jar of liquid poly open and was applying it to a seam line on an aircraft wing.Without looking what I was doing I took my cigarette out of my mouth and stubbed it out in the glue and dipped the glue brush into the ashtray. Ruined a good brush and a full jar of glue.

So there I was...
Superglue on old paint bottle cap, modeling in dress/work pants (chino's not jeans..)

Somehow or other I knocked the paint cap off the workbench and it landed on my thigh, glue side down.

Like an idiot I scrapped at it with a fingertip..realized I'd just ruined the pants and kept working.

Later when I went to drop trou to shower I found out that by scraping the glue, I'd forced it through the fabric and glued the pants to my leg.

I don't know why I was pulling those pants off so energetically, but I have a quarter-sized scar on the top of my leg to prove it.

Other story was the time I knocked a whole new bottle of tenax over across the workspavce and onto the sprues of a just opened kit.
In the end I just scraped everything off the work surface with a putty knife and make some 3 in squares of foam insulation into tip-proof paint/glue bottle holders.

Who's next?

Let me just say that superglue has no taste, but it does make your tongue feel funny.

Ola everybody

My worst glue accident came while I was avoiding another accident with my hobbyknife.

I was sitting behind my work bench and I just cut something off the frame and I put my knife down. As I was testfitting the parts I just had cut out I suddenly heard a rolling sound. It was the hobbyknife that was rolling across the workbench towards me. I looked at it and thought that it was going to be too dangerous as it could land on my leg. So I quickly laid down the stuff that I had in my hands and intercepted the hobbyknife just before it would tip off the workbench.
What I sadly did not notice was that when I laid down the parts for my own safety I tipped over a bottle of CA glue that started to imitate the hobbyknife and came rolling towards me too. I felt the bottle fell on my leg but it stopped moving wich I did not notice. When I looked to my leg I saw that the bottle was leaking glue over my trouser and there was a puddle of glue of 5 by 10 centimeter just soaking through the fabric of my pants. Needless to say that the trouser was glued to my leg. Next thing was to get it off. SO with a lot of aggression I teared the fabric of the leg.

Still everybody in our village remembers the day that a gigantic scream thundered through the village and babies started to cry about this extreme noize. .

This was for me my worst glue accident

I was squeezing a tube of clogged testors. It exploded shooting across the room hitting a 1:20 Lambrogini Countach i had so lovingly put together and decorating the ccover to an expensive set of Sansui speakers

I tend to assemble a fig attache it to the base and do the groundwork before painting, one time i had just added the last spot of super glue to the base, lit a fag (cigarette to our US pals)lent on my work base and admired my handiwork, bent over to put the cig in the ashtray and my elbow was stuck to the table, had to wait till the other half came home and rescued me,even the cat was creased up laughing.

A couple of years ago in July I was working on a 1/32nd scale F-14 Tomcat in just a pair of shorts when all of a sudden I reached for some sand paper and I spilled a brand new bottle of Tenax-7 all over my genital area! Boy talk about getting hot, ouch!!! #:-) Needless to say I was rushed to the hospital for badly needed treatment in that area.

I have already told this story on here a while ago but it seems to fit this category quite well...Many years ago in a gallaxy far far away I was putting together a model of the starship Enterprise...I was glue along having a great time ...then it was time to glue the two sauser sections together...I got out my Krazy Glue and added a good size blob of glue all around the edge....quickly taking the other side I began to put them together ...then I heard a POP!! then ouch something burning in my eye...but I kept going the glue was going to dry....Then I heard another POP!! More glue smack dab in my eye but now I could feel my eye gluing shut...I dropped my Enterprise and reach up and spread my eye lid so it didn't get stuck together...Phew that was close I said .....OUCCHH !! my eye was burning ....I walk up the stair calmly ....OH Dad?? would you kindly take me to the hospital?? So away we went ....I get to the emergency room and see the doc...ahh nothing there just a few little drops of glue on my eye ...So he flushed my eye out with salt and water and told me to come back the next day....So back I went the next day and he had me read the eye chart ....I know it is an E at the top ...but could I see it ....NOPE!! 3 more days of flushing my eye out with saline ...nothing doing couldn't see ...He couldn't figure out what was wrong ..so he sent me to a specialist....I got to see the doctor he put me it the chair and examined my eye ...I hear him swearing under his voice ...I asked what the problem was ...he said the tiny spots that the other doc thought was glue was actually was what was not cover in Krazy glue!!! D'Oh!! so I had my eye frozen the watched a doctor take a scalpel and scrape Krazy glue off my eye...Might I say that I was a little woosy after that ...Now I use safty glasses!! Hope no one else has to have this done !!

I had a similar accident, but not with glue..

It was the first time I worked with putty, so I thought they wouldn't harden while inside the tube....I squeezed the tube lightly, but no putty comes out...Then after a few more tries, I squeezed it hard and the tube bursted out, leaving a really nasty mess on my left hand...And it started to dry quickly, it felt like having my hand cast in plaster....(like what they do to people with fractures....) Took around a 10 minutes of running tap water to get the gooey stuff off...

The lesson - don't sqeeze a tube too hard.....or else...

I knocked over a bottle of Tamiya Liquid cement, gluing Evergreen rod, the cabin fuel bag and the landing gear, left main , of a nice, expensive MH60 G .not too mention a dribble or two on clear parts . Lots of Drill Sergeant words flowed profusely...in between trying to air the area out.

I used to have an old folding leg table with a warped top on it. Was putting together a tow truck reached for the glue bottle and knocked it over spilling almost the entire contents. The spilled glue settled in the low spots right where I had all the tires and rims. So I just let the glue dry and scraped it off. No real harm to the model but the table stunk bad. Another time I was using CA glue and managed to glue my fingers together on my left hand not even noticing the glue had dripped onto my jeans and then to my leg. Man that stuff gets pretty warm in a tender spot.

Well, can't remember how this happened as it was many years ago, but somehow the contents of a bottle of super glue spilled on to my dungeree shorts right in the crotch area. Some real quick thinking and immediate removal of my shorts (both of them) was in order before it seeped in and on to the family jewels. Made enough noise in the Bunker to warrant an 'emergency' visit from the Mrs. and when she arrived, there I was butt nakid. Yes, I had to explain just what it was that I was doing down there in my room.

Luck would have it as the jewels were saved.
