Howdy, Howdy All!!

Just got home and turned on the tele, and what do my eyes fall upon? Something I've been hoping for since it first aired. Band of Brothers will be re-aired Monday nights at 9:00 PM!!!
I taped the first five episodes and neglected to tape the last five figuring they would re-air them then! But they didn't! Soooooo, I get another chance ..... :-) :-) :-)

My apologies for this rather self-indulgent post but I thought maybe some of YOU might be interested in this magnificent mini-series!!!! Covers the 101st Airbourne 506 PIR from D-Day thru Caen, and on thru Normandy, and to their occupation of Hitler's 'Eagle's Nest'!!!!!!
Sorry, again. Just loved it. Hope you all do too. :-)

Tread.

P.S. With any luck at all they will release it on DVD!

Yes and it starts during the time I will be sitting in VIP quarters at APG's Edgewood Area. I bet they don't have HBO in the DVQ.

Missed the first run because it started while I was moving and we didn't get HBO at guest quarters

Must teach wife to use VCR

Rob.....believe me I will be making arrangements to tape it no matter what, so, if you need me to make you a copy until it potentially comes out on DVD I will, with enthusiasm...

Just let me know partner!!

From a very reliable source, I heard that the DVD will be available here in The Netherlands in the fall (September/October). Surely it will be available in the US/UK sooner? You don't need any subtitles...... (neither do I, but some do over here LOL).

Hope you're right.

Wow thanks for the great tip David, I've been waiting to hear that about "Band of Brothers" coming out on DVD. But I bet it's in the Netherlands before it's out in the USA. HBO released the "Soprano's" in England on DVD a year before they did in the US.

I meant to post here in this thread Monday night after watching it the second time around. It just gets better. You know what I mean?
Usually the first time you watch a movie you've been anticipating, you're so excited that you watch almost glued to the screen. In doing so, I missed the little nuances from the first watch. This time around, watching it the second time, feet kicked up, no need to watch the VCR to make sure it's working, I watched with more relaxation, and saw little things I missed the first round.
It just gets better the second time around.
Can't wait till next week... :-)

PS, I'll post a reminder of this as the time draws nearer.

I agree with you Kencelot, I enjoyed it last monday better than the first time. I also noticed a scene that Tread was talking about in an earlier post, about the Sherman's with their wading trunks still attached. I didn't remember it before.

I'm pretty sure. I heard it from a friend, who knows some one that works for the largest chain of music/cd/dvd stores in the Netherlands. They get lists of what will be coming out when, so that they can free space in the store etc.
I have no idea where it will be released first, UK, US or here. I hope for you guys you get it first.

I just love to throw wrenches at and in "rumor mills"! :-)
And to do that, I employed my little web digging shovel... :

Starting April 8th, 'Band of Brothers' is returning to HBO on weekly basis. The premiere episode will be two hours long followed by one hour episodes every Monday at 9:00 p.m.
The DVD and VHS release is set for Fall 2002 in a special Box Set.

This comes from one of several BoB sites out there. This particular one even has merchandice from the movie/series that you can purchase. Go figure...

I don't get HBO..... I'm sure they will release the series on DVD eventually. Just like they did for 'From The Earth to the Moon'. I still need to get that sometime.

Well.....I can only HOPE that the DVD release contains all the 'extras' that Dreamworks is known for. Sorry, but I can't get enough of BoB!

I wish I could remember the ancient qoute....something to do with the fact that POW's (as they are currently called) are simply unarmed enemy. The reaction of the victor towards the vanquished is in direct relationship to the engagement. Opposing foes who fought well and gallant against one another ( an example is Rourke's Drift) will be treated accordingly once captured or vanquished. The reverse is true, foes who fought viciously and without respect for human rights, nor the understanding of the opposing forces dedication to it's cause, will also, be treated accordingly......

a ramble.

Pak...you're an intelligent man, I don't have to tell you that anyone is capable of barbarism given the correct set of circumstances.
Pardon my French, but didn't {b}Jesus[/b] himself kick the poop (new word inserted for Jim's sake out ) out of the money lenders & merchant's ?
