1⁄35TWENOT National Meeting Overloon, The Netherlands
|
It is always nice to meet the persons who are behind certain nicknames on
the web and whom you have shared tips and techniques with. And in Overloon
we had the pleasure of meeting several of these persons in the flesh: It is also nice to note that several ArmoramA members
have gotten some awards in the Twenot contest (that is saying something
about this site, is it not?)

 The National war and
      resistance museum the Overloon (www.oorlogsmuseum-overloon.nl),
the perfect location for such an event. Between September 26 and October 26 1944 the
Allies and Germans fought one of the fiercest battles here with a great
loss of men and equipment on both sides. The museum is planted on the exact place where this
huge battle took place and is surrounded by a 15ha large park where
you can view more then 100 vehicles en hundreds of uniforms, weapons,
artifacts etc. in and around the museum. The museum itself exist of 3 complexes, a section where
history is shown (thru multi media) starting from the occupation thru
resistance and liberation. Another part shows the horrors of war (the
concentration camps in Germany and Asia) and a vehicle complex where you
can learn more about the beautiful restored vehicles, planes and even a
mini sub that are on display. You can also visit dozens of vehicles, trench sections,
bunkers sections and more in the surrounding park. I know that I will be present
in Overloon next year, and maybe, just maybe we will meet each other. |
