About melsharkskin
Have been a newspaper, magazine and wire service journalist, doing primarily crime reporting, investigative work and aviation writing most of my adult life, though now mostly starve like many unwealthy New Yorkers. Spent almost five years as an editor for a well-known aviation modeling magazine based in the UK. After that magazine changed managing editors, and the new person in that seat decided to dumb it down to a state of moronica with big type, short articles, and lots of great big pretty pitchers, I hit the bricks. I now head a news service with a fine staff assembled from my writer/builders at the old place, and aviation writers and photographers from other publications. We provide articles for modeling magazines and the aviation and space media. (BTW, we're looking for good AFV writer/builders now). Relatively recenly discovered the joys of WW I a/c modeling, and am learning more and more. Still, I will model almost anything except, possibly, modern airliners. Am interested in trying my hand at mostly soft AFV's, but want to learn the whole range. I am not sure where to start, however. For those wanting to get into the model magazine gig, It's a job that definitely carries a "be careful what you wish for" warning with it. Finally, am proud that I have, for a lifelong civilian, significant tactical jet time (backseat, obviously) which I wouldn't trade for two new girlfriends and a 1966 Triumph Bonneville. Live in NYC, but am a native Texan.
