About 1025drvr
I started building scale models early on in life. Having my father serving in the Air Force, we were stationed in Okinawa which allowed me to spend my hard earned money going down to the local off-base hobby shop with a hand full of Yen and come back with arms filled with plastic and glue. All my models at that time were built so that I had "toys' to play with. Early on, my interests primarily covered military armor and aircraft. Rarely did I paint them. As time passed, I continued building and painting. I started off with "rattle" cans and progressed up to air brushes. It has been quite some time since I built any models, mainly due to moving around after a year or so. Since I recently retired, I have decided to get back into building models, not for the aquisition of making them "toys", rather to have a piece of history that I can visually see. Spending nearly 25 years in the Navy, I have been very fortunate to have travelled around the world, living in a vast numbr of countries, enjoying the people, food, culture, and thier history. By far, my favorites have been Italy, and Japan. This time spent abroad has allowed me to enjoy the differences we all have and to be able to adapt easily as well as make friends from nearly all points of this planet. Besides enjoying building scale models, I also spend time building computers, going back to school working on my Computer Network Administration and Management degrees. Having spent the past 15 years working as a cop in the Navy, I felt it was time to bring a change to my life and work in a career that has less potential for personal injury. Additionally, when available, I work on cars, rebuilding engines, restoring my 1964 Pontiac GTO and dabble in wood working. A common theme has reared it's head here and using my hands to build, develop, or construct things brings me great joy. For outdoor activities, I enjoy riding my mountain bike on the trails around this city, and I have gotten into riding my road bike to varying parts of the city. I am also getting back into photography, an occupation I held for the first 10 years of my time in the Navy.
