Your ever vigilant mild mannered staff member, ran across these affordable sanding aids while surfing the web one day. Now, I really do not take credit for the unusual name for them, as I think it might be something in the translation. Since my comments would apply to both sets, I've decided to review them together. What they actually are, is rather simple, yet effective and affordable holders for sand paper, making small sanding blocks for better sanding control of flat surfaces.

a closer look
Molded in plastic, they come complete with a strip of double sided tape for attaching your choice of grit sandpaper.

The first set contains three shapes with pointed ends to get into hard to reach places, and up close to tight angles. They are not flexible, although the tape given is a little spongy. I would simple use plain everyday double sided tape to attach mine. The first set, HT-081 is simple and effective, costing a lot less than the extruded aluminum ones, costing a mere 6 US bucks.

The second set, called Pallet For File 2 (HT-082), is a great little gizmo of a jig for true sanding, and costs a lot less than the metal ones. It comes in several pieces that need to be assembled, and all the pieces fit tightly together. Once assembled, and the sandpaper is attached, you are able to make up some nice true 90 degree angles using the proper attachment. Using the second attachment you can now come up with a shape 90 degree, with a slant of 45 degrees. Flip the back piece over, and use the angled attachment and you can come up with perfect compound angles if and when needed. For a mere 6 bucks, a lot cheaper than the more expensive metal ones, especially for those that need a jig like this infrequently.

I picked these up at HobbyLink Japan costing me 12 US bucks plus shipping for the two sets.

Highs: Extremely useful, and affordable
Lows: Being made of Styrene Plastic, be-careful around plastic cements, probably won't hold up as well as the more expensive metal ones.
Verdict: I would recommend to anyone needing items like this for the occasional user.

About Dave O'Meara (Grumpyoldman)

I'm rewriting this in a much more humoristic way, to help over inflate my ego, and place my self on a pedestal, because I don't have a life, and plastic models are the only thing I live for. I plead guilty as charged to excessive babble, light hearted humor, and continued encouragement to youngsters...
