Introduction

Iwata continues to look at what else they can supply that is related to their airbrush offerings. This time around it is a universal airbrush holder which does mean that you are not restricted if you do not own Iwata airbrushes. I will also add here that this is just one part of a work station combination, with this being the centre element.

Review

This universal airbrush holder is packaged in a substantial cardboard box and is well packaged inside, the result is a product that reaches you in the condition it was intended to. The contents consist of a substantial metal bracket with a metal thread with an attached foot as its central element, the photos show this attached to a ¾ inch thick piece of oak I had laying around and is listed as being able to accommodate thicknesses of up to three inches, if your desk is that thick, what are you building? When screwed down it provides a good stable base. The ring on the tightening bar makes it easy to make the base as secure as you wish and the size of the bracket and foot should prevent damage to the work surface.

The support arms for the airbrushes are sided and are secured by a metal screw thread with plastic handle to make tightening an easy option. To aid in the tightening process a spring washer is included to make the base as stable as possible. What I like about the airbrush support arms is that you decide what orientation you want them in. The stand will support two airbrushes of any make out of the box after assembly; this also includes airbrushes that utilise the handle and trigger setup, I do not have an airbrush of this type to check, but the box art supports this along with a standard brush. In addition to these parts there is another bracket that is for attaching their universal spray out pot, this item is available separately. The bracket in my opinion is not of the same quality as the rest of this offering, but it will do as intended. The last element of this offering is a bolt with a screw driver head, this it turns out is for securing a separately available regulator filter available from Iwata.

Conclusion

This offering is to a large extent a case of ‘you get what you pay for’, the cost coming in at £29.99 in the UK. The bracket and tightening arm are solid elements that make for a good central body. The bracket supplied for adding the spray out pot is the only element I am not keen on, this is due to it being a piece of flat and shaped metal where as the handle of the pot if purchased separately is a nicely shaped piece of bar stock. With this product being designed as a central point for the addition of further elements I am quite happy with what is on offer with this product.
