Mathos Models is making a name for themselves with a growing line of diorama scenery items made with a variety of materials. This model is Metal Fence A, item 35016, 1/35 photo-etched brass ornate metal fence sections. It can be used regardless of the subject matter for the era of shaped metal.

Metal Fence A
This is a sharply etched brass pair of fence sections held in a fret. The metal is so to-scale that one must be careful handling it as the brass is soft and easy to bend.

Held in a zip-top bag each piece is 3.5 cm wide (1.38") and 4.3 cm high (1.69"). Mathos Models made these to be compatible with item 35016, Metal Fence Set A - Gate.

These are crisply etched and have very fine ornate detail. Each piece features bolt detail on each side edge. The brass is so malleable that the edges can be bent 90 for easy attachment to a support column. It is recommended to use a large photo-etch bending tool to do so.

Metal Fence set A is an excellent way to add a highly detailed wrought or cast metal ornate fence to your diorama. It could be used for balcony railing, too. Plus, one need not be constrained to merely 1/35. The larger the scale, the lower, narrower, and tighter the fence.

Detail is very fine as is the thickness.

The only possible trouble I foresee is accidental mishandling can malform the fences.

I happily recommend this beautifully etched set of ornate fence for 1/35 modelers.

Highs: Excellent detail and to-scale thin. Versatile - it could probably be used for balcony railing, too, plus one need not be constrained to merely 1/35.

I'm a professional pilot with a degree in art. My first model was an AMT semi dump truck. Then Monogram's Lunar Lander right after the lunar landing. Next, Revell's 1/32 Bf-109G...cried havoc and released the dogs of modeling! My interests--if built before 1900, or after 1955, then I proba...

Cool. I am not a big fan of photo-etched brass but this product looks nice. Thank you for the review Fred. Randy
