Hello everybody,

Does anyone know of any good publications or webpages in english or german about the u-boat pens at La Rochelle. I have tried looking in the internet but have been unsuccessful.

I will be visiting the town soon and hope to see the pens again (although last time I was there the authorities had closed it off to the public). Any information i could get would be great.

Look forward to hearing from you all

Jamie

I don't have an answer for you James, but I do have a suggestion. You might try posting this on http://www.uboat.net/ Those guys over there have forgotten more about U-Boats than most of us will ever know. They may have some info for you.

Hi Rodger,

Thanks for the link, I have reposted this thread in the general discussion forum. Hopefully I'll get some information in due time.

Cheers

Hello DJ,

I got some responses from uboat net that might be of interest to you. I have been to the La Pallice base twice now. I managed to get inside the base back in 1999 but now sadly the security is tighter and it remains closed to the public. It is still an impressive sight though and I hope that you get there for a look.

Jamie-- very nice shots of the fortifications and pens. Heaven and earth may pass away but those structures will survive.
thanks again
