Armor and aircraft.

I build armor, aircraft and dioramas.

1/35th armor and diorama's --- with some soft skins thrown in for variety. Also working on a free lanced HO model railroad home layout.

I like them all, but I prefer aircraft.

Armor and figures.....with a smattering of aircraft here and there

1/35 and 1/48 armor primarily. 1/72 aircraft as well, but less so these days

I thought it was time to see who we have in Wisconsin. Let us know what you build and were you are at.

10 minutes west of Milwaukee here.

Enjoy building helicopters in 1/48, 1/35, and 1/32 scales, mud-moving jets and props in 1/48, and armor in 1/35.

Hi all ,
My names Andrew , im a recently discharged disabled veteran , I live near Green Bay . I just started building models again. I prefer ships but will try any thing military related. I'm very new at modeling however and have so many questions, so if any of you could help me that would be great. Im also trying to find an airbrush and compressor , but im stuck as to what to get and I dont have alot to spend . I'm currently working on a Messerschmitt Bf 110 , but without an airbrush im at a stand still. Well I said my piece .

My call sign should indicate my preferance. We should get a group build or a campaign up for us beer drinking wisconsinites. Perhaps an aircraft of air venture theme? It would be broad, and could include just about anything.

That's a novel idea-- an EAA-themed build. I'd take the challenge, even if just a few of us have a small group build, if fewer than ten step up.
Now I still never got over there yet, but I'll start digging for what to build.

I build Armour and paint all the little dudes that make up a diorama in 1/35th scale. I'm in Milwaukee. I'd be up for a group build with my fellow "Cheese Heads". I have a couple of wing things in the stash that might work.

Doesn't the EAA have an annual theme ? If so we should try to match what ever they are doing.

I'm no expert on the Fly-In, having never been there, but gleened from their website:

"EAA's weeklong salute to the 100th anniversary of naval aviation kicks off Monday with U.S. Navy Capt. Thomas J. Hudner (Ret.), Medal of Honor recipient, appearing with an F4U Corsair painted in his Korean War paint scheme. Navy aircraft continue in the Scotts Warbird Alley spotlight throughout the week, with the Blue Angels Bearcat, a Tiger Cat, and Conrad Huffstutler's new Wildcat restoration. Be sure to mark down Wednesday afternoon, when plans are to fill Warbird Alley with naval aircraft.

Also planned for this year: a Vietnam tribute featuring the "Bird Dog" and pilots who flew this little aircraft on some very big missions; a Grumman Duck; a Seafire Mk.XV (aka a "Hooked Spitfire"); Vintage Wings of Canada's rare Swordfish; two Focke-Wulf Fw 190s; a Tuskegee Airman T-6; and an F-16 from the Alabama Air National Guard.

So, 100th anniversary of Naval Aviation or the Vietnam Bird Dog or Bob Hoover? Or something I'm missing?

A Corsair sounds pretty good to me or a Wildcat. Should it be any of the featured planes at Oshkosh or stick with the Oshkosh Naval theme? Thanks Sean for doing the research ! Tom

I don't plan to go to Omaha. I saw your other forum topic on that, but I'm not a member of IPMS and my family keeps me too busy sometimes.
As for getting a Cheesehead Airventure build going here, I guess Michael flyboy came up with the idea, so he can keep calling the shots. I have an extra Corsair in my stash (besides the Corsairs campaign one) that could become Hudner's Korean War plane for this.
I like the idea of modelling exact planes from that week, but I know it's easier if we open it to all US Naval Aviation (and to all Wisconsin-philes out there). Would we want to begin or end on the show weekend? I know they're watching the number and length of Aeroscale campaigns. Should we (flyboy ) put out a forum post in Aeroscale/Forums/campaigns to check for further interest?

Good question, when to start. There is plenty of time to be done before the EAA starts. If we start after there is the oppertunity to get some up close photos of what we want to build. What to build - - if we stick to "100 years of Naval Aviation" (not a bad theme) and what will be there we might end up with not a wide variety of AC. Open it up to all the AC that will be there, many more options. Just thinking aloud guys.........

Why have just what is at the EAA? If your going to do 100 Years of Naval Aviation then everything is up for grabs as for as naval air is concerned.

I am digging the aviation theme. Perhaps since the Navy is dressing up their birds in special schemes, such as a Viking in a midway scheme, or some other aircraft with the yellow wings... I am still novice to this site, but I would be game to do something like that. Also notable for this year, they are celebrating Burt Rutan's designs. But, I doubt there are any short ez kits out there. An airventure build would be quite general, as it could be civilian, military, or even a ford mustang, as it is all there. But, I like the other Mike's idea. Naval anniversary seems a ripe target for the picking.

it would be like a what if type build, only actual pics exist of these aircraft. And, I am now following this thread, so I will not take so long next time to chip in!
