Hi all.
Partial cross post from Cammet's Corner.
I'm looking at buying an Iwata HP CP or CS. Can anyone recommend a good, reliable supplier either a real person or ebay seller? I have found some retailers but the prices vary quite a bit.
Thanks in advance.
Shane

The only ebay seller I have seen is from Taiwan and I am too shy to buy from overseas sellers. Even though the price appears to be quite good.
When I was in Mackay I went to the local Glenfords and the fellow there was in the process of approaching the Iwata importer in Sydney about becoming an agent for them. sadly I left Mackay before things were finalised. He also didn't tell me who the importer was.
I know that the fellow was into airbrushing cars and motor bikes, so maybe check your local tool sellers or see if there are any airbrush fanatics there who are into car painting and make some enquiries through them.

Hi,
Apart from trying online for Hobby shops check out any artist suppliers, being in Melbourne I would sujest Hearns Hobbies [they mail order] or try any of the Brisbane hobby shops.
I use a copy of an Olympus AB marked as a Lenco 301, which Lion Electronic in WA sell a copy of to the hobby trade.
Hope this helps.

G'day,
Try http://www.airbrush.com.au. That's where I got my HPC plus.
They also have an online store.

Hi guys.
Sorry for the delay in responding to your responses. I ended up sourcing a HPC Plus from Adelaide Molding and Casting Supplies (www.amcsupplies.com.au). It cost me $255 + $11 postage. Prompt delivery (3 days to Toowoomba, Qld) I could've got it cheaper on ebay but I'm not a big ebay fan.
DR Bones! How do you find doing the fine lines? I've been fiddling with air pressure and trigger settings along with paint / thinner ratios to try and get down to the .3 mm.
Cheers

Hi Shane, I'm Gary Jacobsen from Brisbane QLD, I hope u don't me mind responding. Just to let u know I invested in an Awata HP-Cplus and it's the best thing I ever did. I'm more confident with this airbrush now. In with the airbrush was a small piece of paper showing how fine a line u can get.
I managed 2 get that line by mixing 70%thinners and 30% paint spraying at 10psi.I used Tamiya acrylic. I hope it works 4 u. Let me know if it works cheers.

Thanks Gary. I got the HP-C plus and yes it was a good investment. Thanks for the tip on the mix for getting those fine lines. The only criticism I have with the brush is the lack of information on how to achieve the best out of it. No biggie as the other ABs I have didn't come with much either.
Where abouts in QLD are you?
Cheers

Hi Shane,
I'm at Petrie, Brisbane. Sorry about that. You're right about the lack of info on it, from what i read in a TMMI magazine, issue 117 July '05, on page 40, it now has a teflon packing washer where it never used to, so now you can use lacker or mineral based paints but I, myself will stick to using one type of paint, which is acryics as i like to use one type of paint with one airbrush so if you can get ahold of that magazine, although it's just alittle bit of information but it might help. Happy modeling,
cheers Gary
