Hello guys! I'll be going to Canada soon for a family trip. Could any of you fellow Canadians give me a list of shops in that city? Also, are there any other points of interest, like war museums and the like? Thanks for your time

Hi Ralph! You're coming just as the weather warms after 6 months of snow, and the construction is in full bloom! I'm only familiar with the north end of the city but I hear that there are several all over (Mr. Carswell? Your thoughts?)
Alberta Hobby Centre- Yellowhead trail (Highway 16) and 142nd St, behind McDonalds.
Kites and Other Delights- West Edmonton Mall, at one end of the ice rink (seriously)
Comex Hobby- West Edmonton Mall, down hall at other end of ice rink.
Comex Hobby- Kingsway Mall, NE wing bottom floor- Kingsway Ave and 109th St.

I know that there are many more but these are my regulars, with Alberta Hobby being my favorite for kits, paint/tools and aftermarket stuff.

We have an aviation museum on Kingsway Ave, just west of that mall which I've been meaning to see for years... I hear that it's nice.
Canadian Forces Base Edmonton, on the extreme north tip of the city (top of 97th St) may interest you, with many static vehicle displays around base. Watch your speed, the MPs are same here as every other country.
If you hit Calgary, the Museum of the Regiments is a great way to spend a day in Canadian military history.
Bring a jacket, and get a CURRENT map!
Enjoy your trip.

Ack! And I was after the snow! The heat here in the Phil is skyrocketting 38 deg! Hope to see snow this coming weeks.

BTW, about that airbase, do they allow one to enter? Like get into the cockpits of their aircrafts?

Thanks for the help kind sir! Hopefully I'll find those rare kits (Eduard ) and grab them when I'm there

Hey Mike! Ralph, a couple other ones - Hobby Wholesale - 6136 Gateway Blvd. Mostly R/C stuff but best prices on Tamiya kits, carry Vallejo paint. Roundhouse Sales - 9532 87 St. As the name implies, a railroad modellers shop, but carries MV Lenses and lots of plastic and finishing materials. Some kits, might even find some surprises there.
Comex in Kingsway Mall is probably the best bet for some aftermarket stuff - a bit of photoetch and decals. The Aviation Museum has a beautiful Mosquito in there.
If you're around on a weekend, several of us local armour types usually get together for a Saturday coffee, you're welcome to join us. PM me with details when you will be up.
Funny - Gunnar Jannson from Sweden was just here last week - we're an international hot-bed of modelling!
Also - if you're interested in the armour, I may be able to take you up to the Base and show you where all the stuff is.

Just my two cents worth.Comex hobby in kingsway is an awesome store.I got back into building after a LONG LONG layofff and they were so helpfull.I sat there for hours and just chatted away and they have a great collection of kits and like I said the advice from the staff is topnotch(if your lucky ED will be in).I have been to the others but this one fits the bill in everyway.like I said just my two cents worth.I hope you enjoy the trip and have a great time.
