$300, for a painted toy. Not even an accurately painted toy... Marvel at the novel way the MG is connected to the AA mount... The PE ammo belt... The outline of the stickers that masqerade as turret number decals.. the seamlines all round, the authentic finish of the tracks, the subtle detail of the cuppola, the headlight black out cover (vertical instead of horizontal slit.... ).... I could go on, but won't spoil the game for you..

And somebody paid $300 for this... Please don't give me the "he paid his money, he is happy with it" angle, this is just maddness.

Judging by his ither purchases this guy is a collector, I can't see anything that makes this worth $300. What do they sell for retail $80-90?

I don't think you can compare these to scale model, per se. I think they are die cast collectibles, like the whole Longaberger basket and beanie baby thing. That is, it is probably OOP and the guy needed one for his collection.
