Acav, I would love New Zealand to win, but we seem to have a country wide problem of Chokin when it really matters lol. But I dont think we would be to far off the Aussies.

The Black Caps are a bit of a wild card for me... but if you're talking about chokin' then the Proteas have that spot safely reserved, and headed by the biggest choker of all... Graeme Smith

Nope, as much as I hate to say it... Aussie, Aussie, Aussie... Oi, Oi, Oi...

I suppose you haven't noticed how your teams are doing in the Super 14 either?

BTW, OT and excuse my ignorance, but why doesn't VIC or Mel'ban have a super 14 team? Isn't Union played down there?

From what I gather Rudi they are AFL mad in Melbourne, though they do have a League team , the Storm who aren't to bad.

Thanks Andy

We don't get AFL broadcast to the state TV stations here, but I'd be interested to watch it... it's more of a running game isn't it?

Oh, I think my cash is safe on the Sri Lankans

But good luck SA tonight, they'll need it after the disaster against Bangladesh!

You mean SL might win courtesy of Malinga's illegal bowling technique? You know the one I'm refering to? The one that looks like a running baseball pitch??

yes, the aussies look like the obvious winners at this point, but i really have a soft spot for bangladesh, i hope they can notch up a good performance against the aussies this weekend. in the meantime, any good cricketing stories floating around to be told?

my own cricket tragic story: i always aim to bowl fast, but everytime i get the ball, the keeper is standing up at the stumps. i really try to put everything into it, but i guess i will never ever bowl faster than even Paul Collingwood...(sad) but my last match i finally managed to get a batsman stumped for the first time, so i guess lack of pace can be a lethal weapon too

Yeah, or Murali's illegal action, or any other illegality the sore losers' can think of. What's next -- Sangakkara's illegal crouch?

No worries Rudi, we don't get it over here ethier, from what I gather it is more of a kicking and running game. Better let an educated Aussie explain...........what an oxymoron....... j/k

AFL is a type of Gaelic Football, played on an oval field - It's much bigger than union, which comes third to rugby league.

I think South Africa are in with a chance of winning the cup. Smart money says Aussie, but ya never know. Good to see the minnows Bangladesh and Ireland causing some upsets. Watching the Irish win on St Patrick's Day - Magic!

I;m looking forward to tonight's semi-final match with Australia and South Africa. It could be another one of those nail-biters...South Africa has a chance to win if they bat first on a good pitch and then hopefully get the Aussie top order out cheaply(that's my hope)

another thing: with this world cup being so long and most of the matches broadcast at night, how much modeling time have you guys lost? I know I have not been very productive, since I don't have a TV in my work area.

But what a game Sri Lanka played yesterday, huh? Proves we don't need Jayasuriya scoring to win.

Well, I'll be cheering for South Africa tonight. If they beat the Aussies, SL's as good as nailed the Cup.

Sorry Rudi!
Yep them aussies look tough. That said, Sri Lanka were definitely the dark horse of the tournament, but now I'd say it is close to even munney.
Our middle order has had hardly the batting practice to suffice if called upon. For Sri Lanka to win, they need to post a total, get our first three out cheap, and then have that Murali rip through the middle/lower order. All suspect actions aside
As for the aussie rules, well here in Melbn it is the clear favourite of the sport mad crowd. But I'd say that union league and football(soccer) would be on even par behind it. I guess that now our soccer A-League is not a winter sport any more, it pulls its own crowd independantly of others, and we have had a few 40,000 plus crowds to see the Victory play... Pretty big considering AFL is first and foremost. (90,000 plus yesterday for a big ANZAC day clash between Essendon and Collingwood)
Cheers
Brad
