This is the Cranemobile I'm working on for the scratchbuilding campaign ACUTR

Progress on the chassis is first and slow, but I think I've got the hang of it now. Pictures and drawings were the first things I had to get and create for this project.

The chassis material is acrylic sheet cut from CD cases I've got extras of laying around my room. It's compatible with hobby cements but I used Rez-n-Bond so far.

An interesting looking vehicle, appears to be scrapped together on an old Mack chassis.

Great subject and an imppresive start. Cargo handling, cranes and retrievers have always been an interest of mine. Looking forward to the finished work.

Nice build so far. Interesting raw material. Not used to seeing clear material used in this fashion.

Good job.

Thanks for the comments, Fellas.
This is my first scratch build of a real life subject.
I build a little further since the last post also I had to rebiuld part because my elevation drawing and the plan drawing were 1/4 inch different at a certain spot! We all know a 1/4 inch on a scale model is very big. That's been fixed.
I said before and again, I'm happy this is a one year build because I need every hour of the time to finish.
will post more pics later.

Front suspension done. Look, no leafsprings, coils, or struts . . . YESSSS! none for the rear either.

Status of Cranemobile:

wheels
suspension
chassis
engine
transmission
double drum winch
completed!

upper structures including crane boom not done.
I was granted extension into October for this and my first scratch build of a real vehicle will be completed.

I'm seeing good stuff in this one by the others already!

The chain drive looks like quite a challenge to scratch build. Really fun to pick out pieces and figure out how you built them.

Yes, that really hung me up with details and accuracy. I finally had to let go and be satisfied with what I had. I am still not satisfied with the chain itself. But I have to move on forward. Thanks for the comment!

[

The chassis and wheels look a lot like that of a WWI vintage Mack AC truck. The combination of the wheels and the chain drive location look very familiar.

This is what I thought too. I used the wheels and parts of engine and transmission from the Monogram Mack Log Hauler in 1/24 scale. After the building started, I realized it is not exactly the same. The front chain ring is further forward, so the distance from the rear wheel center to drive chain ring is longer. And the chassis is completely different. However, this appears to be from the same era that you mentioned. I have no more information regarding this Cranemobile vehicle than the pictures that I took. Do you have information about the WWI Mack AC?
As soon as I first saw this thing, I knew I would someday build it.
Thanks for the comment.

Happy Halloween!

ok. still on this one.
The quad pod is built with muffler and most detailing.

The muffler was made from a BiC pen tube.

Then detailed with scap materials.

Scrap parts and materials were used to make the A-Frame.

Hinges for gear cover are from styrene and scratch die-cast nut/bolts.

This project status is here now - actually a little further since a few weeks ago.
Mainly the lattice boom and stringing the pullies is the last assemblies.

Thank you sir. At first I was real confidant with the project. Then into it, I realized all the problems and lack of information of the subject. Then after pursuing on, it started to look like what I wanted in the build. Then comments like yours, I'm confidant again to completion.
