Hi,
The problem i'm having with my airbrushing is when I'm trying to spray fine lines, or the more detailed edges, is the paint stops spraying (just air coming thru).
I have to "open" it up to allow more paint thru then readjust the airbrush to get the fine lines again.
I'm using acrylics, thinned ratios (been playing around) and a comressor (been playing around with different pressure too) 3 gal. tank.

Just looking for some feedback and thoughts on this annoyance.

Thanks alot.

it may be caused by a couple of things

it may be that your brush needs cleaning, srip it down and clean it

the pressure is a little to low or the paint isnt thin enough.

also i take it you have a fine needle and head fitted and not the standard medium one?

I am using the standard needle. Did some ab last nite. I think the paint may be drying on the needle tip soon after starting.
Any way to prevent this.
I'm using acylics thinned with water mostly 50/50 - 60/40, thinner/paint.
I also tried adding a drop of dishsoap. Not sure but maybe helped.

thanks.

I haven't tried airbrushing with acrylics yet but I have seen acrylic extender for sale in my local arts and crafts store. The stuff should slow the drying of your paint and prevent it from clogging the brush. Also make sure the paint is very well mixed, sometimes you can get small bits of dried paint chunks in your resevoir that can clog things up.

Something that may help is a screen filter that fits over the siphon tube. I've seen them listed with Micro-Mark.

Cheers.
