Today I was removing some articles from that clear plastic packaging that now seems to be everywhere in the US. A couple of the packaging pieces were long, rectangular and nicley flat. It occured to me that they might make a nice source of clear plastic for things like small windows in transport aircraft, etc.

Has anyone tried this? Any issues? Does it work?

I have recycled clear plastic packaging for windows on buildings, cabins, stern gallerys and even cockpit canopys! I keep my eyes open for different thickneses, and have way too much stashed away. its even been suguested to me that it can be formed by boiling it in oil [approx 300 deg.
(but not if its beentreated for printing)] I havent tried it yet but next time it comes up... I do prefer polyester resin for port holes, stern lights, lanterns and running lights.

Use it all the time.

As window glass, as reinforcing where it can't be seen (saves reg. sheet material).

Hair dryer or heat gun (on low) Should work Softening it in hot water might work as well.
