I doubt I will ever use enough PE on models to justify paying £30 to £80 for an Etch- or Bender anything. With that said, my planned build had a few complex bends. As I couldn’t find The Armory by Gauntlett’s Mr Fold-it, which is cheap and good enough for my needs, I decided to build one. As my metal work skills are atrocious at best, I knew from the onset it was going to be a ROUGH, but working tool.

At my local spares spot, I bought a towing socket plate (£1.10).

A few holes and distorted cuts later and now its a workable PE bender.

As is clearly visible, I still lack the ability to cut straight lines with a saw. Not pretty, but works okay. It still needs to be tidied up, but chances are this is how it will stay until a replacement is purchased.

Very clever! Even if your cuts aren't exactly straight, I say Well Done!

Thanks Gary.

Hey, now that's a great home-made tool! Easily duplicated by us kids at home.

Well done, I say, well done.
