I am thinking of picking up a battleship kit to try my hand. Have done armour, dabbled in aircraft, and thought I should give ships a try.
What would be easier 1/700 or 1/350 ? and what are usually the finished sizes of the two ? I also like alot of detail and am adept at using PE and small parts. I think maybe a full hull version would be cool. But not sure on the differrent manufacturers and their quality. Probably start with plastic as opposed to resin first.
Thanks and cheers.

Might want to post directly to Model Shipwrights for a quick answer.

Hi Sterling
I hang out in the modelshipwrights forum a lot.
I aint no expert but I have worked in 1/700 its hard because the parts are pretty small. But I have learnt a lot. The 1/700's are cheaper and quicker to build.
1/350th would be easier too work with and are impressive when built up.
I have some 1/72 ships and subs to build looking forward to that scale.
Stick with plastic and main stream manufacturers if you can.
But come over and hang out in our modelshipwrights forum great bunch of friendly helpful modellers.
Be warned ship modelling is addictive fun.
Warmest regards
Sean

Thanks for the responses. I think I may pick up a 1/350 scale ship as it may be more to work with. Now the question is which one. I think the battleships are cool, as the carriers are just 'slabs' on the sea kinda thing. Anyone know of any recent kits with lots of extra goodies like PE and stuff ? And I think full hull would be the way to go. Let me know
Thanks and cheers.
Thanks and cheers.

I am not a ship builder but Trumpeter has a nice line of 1/350th ships. The kits have recieved good reviews. I hope this helps. Cheers-
